Johannesburg - A total of 14 drivers have been arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol in Ekurhuleni, metro police said on Tuesday.

Chief Superintendent Wilfred Kgasago said the motorists were arrested in the early hours of Sunday in Tembisa, Germiston, Kwa-Thema, Tsakane and Duduza.

"We identified hot spots, where accidents usually take place due to drunken driving. Ninety-eight vehicles were stopped, searched and the drivers were tested for sobriety levels."

Kgasago said the arrested motorists were expected to appear in court soon.
