Johannesburg - Fourteen people were injured when a bakkie and a panel van collided at the intersection of Edwin Swales and Titren roads in Durban on Wednesday, paramedics said.

When they arrived at the scene, outside the Rossburgh testing ground, the injured were "strewn" across the road, ER24 spokesperson Derrick Banks said.

Two people were in a critical condition, seven seriously injured and five people had minor injuries. All were taken to various hospitals in Durban.

The cause of the accident was not known.

more time is spent on how to rip motorists with tolling, road blocks for fines instead of nailing reckless driving and unroadworthy vehicles.

I dont have all the facts and the article does not say either but i can almost garentee the Bakkie had 14 poeple in it... A panel van is a delivery vehicle and usualy have some kind of product in the back and just 2 front seats... So in this case it would be wreckless driving as the bakkie is only certified to carry 3 people, thus it was overloaded also...

At least we know where the accident happened by reporting the road as "Edwin Swales". During the recent COP conference, attendees were given a pamphlet with all the street name chages as those who had been to Durban before hadn't a clue what street was what.

Guaranteed that these trafic lights were not working. The council fixes them once a week then they go faulty again after a day.Seems like they do a patch job aand can never actually find the real fault.
