16 injured in Sandton car pile-up

Johannesburg - A vehicle pile-up in Sandton, Johannesburg, left 16 people injured on Monday afternoon, said paramedics.

The crash involved two taxis and two cars on the corner of Sandton Drive and William Nicol Drive, said ER24 spokesperson, Chitra Bodasing.

The patients sustained minor to moderate injuries. They were treated on scene and taken to nearby hospitals.

The cause of the collision was unknown.

Emer-G-Med, however, reported that five vehicles - two taxis and three cars - were involved in the crash. It said the brakes of one of the taxis allegedly failed.
