Durban – Seventeen children were injured in an accident involving a minibus taxi while they were travelling to school on Thursday morning, KwaZulu-Natal paramedics said.

KZN Emergency Medical Services spokesperson Robert McKenzie said details of the accident, which happened on the Higginson Highway in Chatsworth, were still unclear.

McKenzie said the children who sustained a combination of minor and serious injuries were transported to hospital for further treatment.

On Wednesday last week News24 reported that 21 school children were injured when a minibus they were travelling in rolled on Mare Road in Roodepoort, west of Johannesburg.

The children - reportedly aged between 6 and 12 years - all sustained moderate injuries.
