Johannesburg - Two men have been arrested for killing and robbing a man in Lyttelton, Gauteng police said on Tuesday.

Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said two men travelling in a black Range Rover shot the man on Friday afternoon and then robbed him of a substantial amount of money.

"The victim later died at the hospital," he said.

Police were informed of the shooting and pursued the robbers in a high speed chase.

Dlamini said the suspects were arrested after they crashed into a wall in Rabie Ridge, near Midrand.

"Two suspects were arrested, four handguns were found in their possession," he said.

Police also discovered that the car they pair was travelling in had been reported stolen in Sandton earlier this month.

They face charges of murder, armed robbery, possession of unlicensed firearms and a stolen vehicle.

Investigations would reveal whether the pair was linked to any other crimes, Dlamini said.

Dlamini could not immediately confirm which court the two would be appearing in, and when.
