Johannesburg - Two people have been arrested in Jabulani, Soweto when they were found looting a shop owned by a foreign national, Gauteng police said on Wednesday.

"Two people were found looting a shop in Jabulani and are being detained at the Jabulani police station," said Lieutenant Kay Makhubela.

Looting of shops owned by foreign nationals also spread to other areas in Soweto following a shooting incident in Snake Park, near Dobsonville.

"Reports this morning [Wednesday] are that attacks on shops owned by foreign nationals spread overnight to areas such as Emdeni, Zola and Protea Glen," Makhubela said.

Foreign nationals allegedly shot dead a teenager and injured another when a group of boys attempted to rob his shop on Monday, sparking protests.

The Star identified him as Mthetheleli Siphiwe Mahori, 14, who died after being shot in the neck.
