2016-07-14 12:24

Bloemfontein – Two children, believed to be between the ages of 3 and 5, were killed when a vehicle rolled several times on the N6 in Reddersburg, just outside Bloemfontein on Thursday morning, paramedics said.

Paramedics arrived on scene shortly after 09:30 and found the vehicle's occupants lying scattered across the road, ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaak said.

It is understood that the occupants were all thrown from the vehicle, said Vermaak.

"Paramedics from ER24 assessed some of the occupants and found that the two children succumbed to their fatal injuries," he said.

They were declared dead on the scene.

Three adults (two women and a man) and a baby were also injured in the incident.

"One of the women is in a critical condition and an emergency helicopter was called to the scene to airlift her from the site."

The remainder of the patients were stabilised and transported to nearby hospitals.

The exact cause of the accident was unknown.
