Johannesburg - Two people died and three others were injured after employees of two security companies were involved in a shoot-out in Palm Springs, near Orange Farm, south of Johannesburg on Saturday, Gauteng police said.

"The incident happened on Saturday... at about 08.20 where employees of two security companies were involved in a shoot-out incident," said Captain Tsekiso Mofokeng

"Fifteen people from the two security companies have also been arrested in connection with the shooting incident."

One of the injured was a bystander from the community, who was hit by a stray bullet. All the injured were taken to a local hospital.

"It is further alleged that the two security companies are contracted to one taxi association," said Mofokeng.

"The suspects will appear in court soon."

Police were investigating a case of murder, attempted murder and possession of unlicensed firearms.

The motive behind the shoot-out was not known.

"The police are working with the community to ensure that the suspects are arrested as soon as possible," said Mofokeng.
