2 kids killed in Eastern Cape attack

2012-05-30 12:29

Johannesburg - A 12-year-old girl and a toddler were killed when their family was attacked in their home in Butterworth, Eastern Cape police said on Wednesday.

This is the second crime incident involving the killing of children in South Africa in the past week.

"It is alleged that four family members were attacked by an unknown suspect or suspects, between Monday night and Tuesday morning while asleep," Lieutenant Colonel Sibongile Soci said.

All four had serious head injuries. The 12-year-old daughter died on the scene and her 1-year-old brother died later in hospital.

The attackers fled the scene and no arrests had been made by Wednesday morning.

Soci said nothing was stolen from the family's home and the motive for the attack was still under investigation.

Last Wednesday, a 66-year-old woman and a baby were found strangled in their home in Delmas, Mpumalanga.

The day mother's body was found under a carpet in an outside room. The baby was found under a bed in the main house. The motive for the murders was also not known.

Too much hate and revenge in this country.

      Marion - 2012-05-30 13:25

@Charles Dumbwin - why don't you just shut the f*** up with all your racist rants that actually get so many thumbs up it is sickening. Or at least have the cajones to let us know who you really are you anonymous wuss.

      Jason - 2012-05-30 13:54

White people really need to start realising that its not just whites that are attacked, murdered and raped, seriously black white pink purple we need to start standing together against these criminals.

      Rob - 2012-05-30 14:07

Marion...Charles is 100% correct. Why are we wasting our time in believing that the majority want to build a nation alongside us,many have been raised to hate whites & there are so many black racists on these sites, why pander to them & pretend that everything is fine ?

      Marion - 2012-05-30 16:12

@Rob - What about all the white racists on these sites? I always see a lot more racism from whites on this site than from blacks. I know many whites who hate blacks. Some are actually proud of the fact and will admit to it in the presence of blacks without even an iota of shame, others deny it but live it. None of the blacks I associate with are racist toward me. But then I treat them as equals - because they are, irrespective of social status. The only time I can truly say I have been exposed to direct racism from a black person, in person or online, in decades was once from a PAC member online who berated me for having a black son when, according to him, said son should be suffering in squalor in a squatter camp amongst 'his own people' and once from some oke calling himself Julius Malema on twitter. At all-white parties etc., I have heard the k-word used to the point of nausea and if I object I am belittled and called all kinds of nasty names. Please don't say that I pander to blacks and pretend everything is fine because in my life everything is fine without any pandering. Even my dogs aren't racist.

      Rob - 2012-05-30 18:19

      Ok Marion.

  • Hudayfah - 2012-05-30 13:23

How very unfair to make this a racial issue. Condemn the perpetrators by all means, but leave the generalisation out of it. Condolences to the family.

      Rob - 2012-05-30 14:22

But the fact remains................ All too quick to generalise when it comes to whites though. Not so !

      Hudayfah - 2012-05-30 14:36

Whoever does it is wrong period.

  • Marion - 2012-05-30 13:28

RIP little ones. Sincere condolences to all relatives. Hope the perpetrators are caught and prosecuted to the full extent of the law (which is not enough in my opinion, but better than nothing).
