Johannesburg - Two people were killed when their car crashed into a truck on the M4 in Durban on Saturday night, paramedics said.

A third person was found to be seriously injured, in a rescue operation that required cutting the vehicle open to free them.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said the car was found wedged under the truck which seemed to have stopped in the middle of the road on the Sibaya offramp.

The survivor was stabilised and taken to hospital for further treatment.
