Durban - Two men died and three others have been injured after a truck ploughed into a stationary truck which was being fixed along the side of the road in KwaZulu-Natal, paramedics said on Tuesday.

Rescue Care's Gareth Jamieson said a broken down truck was being fixed in the extreme left lane of the M7, toward Wakesleigh Road, when another truck smashed into it and then went on to hit a bakkie.

Two people were trapped underneath the truck, one died at the scene, and another was in a critical condition and later died in hospital.

The two people who were injured in the bakkie had been transported to hospital for further treatment.

The driver of the second truck was also hospitalised.
