2 killed in Gauteng plane crash

Johannesburg - A man and a woman were killed on Friday when a light aircraft crashed in Germiston, Ekurhuleni emergency services said.

"The aircraft is completely crashed. It seemed to have landed on its propeller. There were four occupants inside. Two died on the scene and two were injured," said spokesperson William Ntladi.

The occupants were trapped after the crash.

Construction workers working nearby rushed to the scene and got them out of the wreckage, said Ntladi.

The two, who sustained injuries, were airlifted to a Netcare trauma facilities for medical care.

Further details were not immediately available.

      if an aircraft crashed onto its prop,I believe that the pilot did not have control over the aircraft-thats +- 90 deg. dif..and at rand airport there is not that many straight roads to land on or roads that are clear of obstacle. I have flown there myself.

    What actually matters here is that two people died and two critically injured. Nothing else. Not how it crashed, if it was crushed. Cathy Cooper, lets hope that when this happens to a member of your family, in a car or elsewhere, you won't be pontificating over semantics

    It was completely crashed but landed on its propeller, who does this spokesman represent? I hope not the CAA as he seems to be a bit daft when it comes to issuing statements. What was the comment about that got deleted
