Durban - Two men were killed when their car crashed into a tree in the Glendale area, northwest of Stanger, in the early hours of Saturday morning, KwaZulu-Natal emergency medical services said.

"Firefighters from the KwaDukuza fire department had to use the jaws-of-life to free the men from the mangled vehicle," spokesperson Robert McKenzie said.

The two men, aged around 25 and 30, died on the scene before paramedics arrived.

The exact cause of the accident was not known.
