Bloemfontein - A Free State man has been sentenced by the Bethlehem Regional Court to two life imprisonment sentences for the rape of a woman and two girls, police said on Friday.

Sergeant Majang Skalkie said Mojaki Jonas Dlamini, 36, was found guilty on three counts of rape and sentenced on Thursday to two life sentences, plus another 10 years imprisonment.

Dlamini throttled his victims and dragged them to a field where he raped them. In the first attack in October 2008, he raped a 37-year-old woman in field near Morelig in Bethlehem.

Almost a year later, two girls met Dlamini and, fearing for their lives, tried to run away from him. Dlamini chased them and managed to catch a 15-year-old girl. He raped her. The court sentenced him to life imprisonment for this.

He was found guilty of raping a 14-year-old girl, who was sent to a shop by her mother, in September last year. While awaiting trial, Dlamini escaped from custody in November 2011, but was re-arrested a few days later. He was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment for this escape.

...but then my problem is: a murderer will receive some stupid sentence like 10 years... Rape is terrible, but murderers should also get harsh sentences like this. Heck, some people deserve to be tortured daily, for life, and barely kept alive. Still think that's not punishment enough for some of the horrific crimes lowlives commit. SMH

Pity some judge doesn't set a precedent by making multiple life sentences consecutive. That will make the time fit the crime.

2 life sentences? That's just awesome! So, let me get this straight.... If he dies, he will be revived to serve the next one... I think it's the most stupid conviction they could imply... Death should be appropriate. Other criminals will learn from that.
