Cape Town - Two alleged cop killers appeared in the Athlone Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

Thabo Nohashe, 23, and Bronwen Bandile Qongqo, 26, were arrested on Sunday in connection with the murder of Constable Amanda Ladlokova, who was killed in Philippi last month, as well as the wounding of her partner.

Their arrests bring to three the number of suspects arrested for the shooting.

Ashwin Kennedy, 19, was arrested shortly after Ladlokova's murder.

Ladlokova and her colleague were attacked while attending to a domestic violence complaint in Acacia Street, Philippi East, on November 22.

A woman came and asked them to help at a similar situation around the corner.

Suspects expected back in court

When they arrived at the house after attending to the first complaint, someone opened fire on them.

Ladlokova was shot three times and died on the scene.

Her colleague was shot in the neck but played dead while he and Ladlokova were searched.

Their service pistols were stolen.

On Tuesday Hawks spokesperson Captain Lloyd Ramovha said the two suspects were nabbed in Philippi and Mitchells Plain, respectively, by a multidisciplinary team consisting of the Hawks and police.

Hawks head Lieutenant General Berning Ntlemeza said authorities "can never rest when the defenders of the rule of law are mercilessly killed".

Nohashe, Qongqo and Kennedy are expected in the Athlone Magistrate's Court on January 3 for a bail application.
