Johannesburg – Two pregnant women were killed when they were struck by a car on the N14 near the Beyers Naude offramp on Wednesday afternoon, paramedics said.

They were coming from a nearby clinic and were trying to cross the road when they were struck and flung about 50m, Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said in a statement.

The car came to a standstill about 100m from where the women were found.

Botha said police would investigate.
