Cape Town - If April 1 proves anything, it's that 24.com users are not easily fooled. Some 24.com sites decided to have a little fun on April Fool's Day, but many of our users were not having any of it.

The majority of commenters in the first April Fool story that appeared on News24 - Mxlish the 12th official SA language - guessed straight away that there was no truth to the article.

However, there were more than 30 we managed to fool. News24 User Annette BrandersBraxton didn't take the news too well. She commented: "People in this country are already struggling to spell properly. Now they (the government) want people to dumb themselves down. Can you just imagine what it will look like in school when kids start spelling? Just bloody brilliant. There are several other important issues that needs attention, like education, proper education..."

Sport24 users were not taking the bait either in their story Kings send SOS to Div. One clever user realised comments were being moderated and asked: "Why are they moderating this article's comments? Look at your calendar people..."

People were not too pleased about the news that restaurant patrons could face a cover charge of up to R100 per person, as Food24 jokingly reported in their article Restaurants to impose cover charge.  Fussed Anderson commented: "What a greedy and lazy bunch. If your food and service were better, this would not have to happen. Nowhere else expects tips and there business is still running. Shame on you [for] trying to get the customer to get you out of your own mismanagement."

But others seemed to be joining in on the April Fooling. Jennifer DuPreez Martin commented: "They should also make people wear hats. You can never have enough hats. "
