Bloemfontein - Three men were arrested after they were found in possession of stolen livestock at the weekend, Free State police said on Monday.

They were arrested following a tip-off from local farmers who had been following a "suspicious" truck from Edenville in the Free State on Sunday morning, said Sergeant Ian Gaobepe.

Officers stopped the three men who were travelling in a white delivery truck on the R271 outside Kroonstad and found 44 sheep in the back of the vehicle, said Gaobepe.

"It was found that the sheep belonged to the owner of Springvale farm in the Edenville area."

The men are expected to appear in the Kroonstad Magistrate's Court soon on charges of possession of suspected stolen property.
