Cape Town - The bodies of three men were found in sand dunes in Macassar, Cape Town, on Thursday morning, Western Cape police said.

Captain Frederick van Wyk said a police patrol came across the bodies around 02:00. The men were believed to be between 24 and 26 years old. They had various marks and injuries.

Van Wyk said there was a possibility the men could have been victims of vigilantism.

"Taking the law into your own hands is a criminal offence and offenders will be arrested and criminally charged."

Murder dockets were opened.

At least the community is trying to do something about the high crime rate in SA. With high unemployment, you will always have crime. This country is heading straight for an economic collapse! All thanks to the incompetent ANC!

i am all for vigilantiesm, its how we did it in times before police, besides its more of a deterrant

      Marion - 2012-03-15 14:35

@Darren - we definitely do not need Jessica Fletcher. Didn't you notice how murder followed her wherever she went, not the other way around.

well most cops are useless. Can only kill and beat up innocent women and kids. Everyone is tired of the crime and the cops that dont want to do their work.

Upon what are they basing this possibility of vigilantism?...... Clever, insightful, brilliant detective work? Or, as I suspect, an excuse to clamp down on the community?

Yes and I think some people went prepared and waited to be attacked...then turned the game on them. Well done.

"Taking the law into your own hands is a criminal offence and offenders will be arrested and criminally charged." The public would not take the law into their own hands if the actual criminals were arrested and criminally charged... The police and the justice sytem are useless
