Durban - At least seven people have been killed in a crash on the R61 near Shelley Beach on the KwaZulu-Natal south coast, paramedics said.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said that three of those killed in the crash were children.

He said that the crash involved two vehicles that collided head-on. The reason for the collision was not immediately known.
