Johannesburg - Three men were killed and two others injured when their car rolled near Carletonville, Johannesburg, on Tuesday, paramedics said.

The men, who were in their 30s, were travelling to Carletonville from Johannesburg when the accident happened, said ER24 spokesperson Vanessa Jackson.

"It is at this time not clear as to what caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, causing it to roll."

Paramedics found the men had all been ejected from the car.

One of the injured men was airlifted to Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital with severe head injuries.

He was in a critical but stable condition.

The other escaped with minor injuries and was taken to Carletonville Provincial Hospital.
