Durban – Three people were killed early on Saturday morning in the third accident in KwaZulu-Natal involving a bus since Friday.

The accident occurred in misty conditions on the R617 about 10 kilometres from Underberg when a bus, a light motor vehicle and a bakkie collided. More than 60 people were injured in the collision.

Netcare911 spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said that passengers on the bus as well as on the bakkie sustained moderate to minor injuries. The people who lost their lives were all travelling in the light motor vehicle.

“They were all stabilised on the scene by Netcare911 paramedics, the Provincial EMS and another service provider before they were transported to various hospitals in the area for further medical care.”

On Friday about 50 children were injured when their school bus rolled down an embankment in Umbumbulu, south of Durban.
