Durban - Three people were killed and 4 others were injured when a car overturned and rolled repeatedly on the N2 in Prospecton, Durban on Saturday, paramedics said.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Jeffrey Wicks said that the driver lost control of the vehicle and the occupants were flung from the wreckage as it rolled.

"Two people had succumbed to their injuries. Another died while treatment was being administered."

Wicks said one of the critically injured people was airlifted to a nearby hospital.

The others injured were also transported to nearby hospitals.

Maybe they should learn to drive and get licenses the proper way and these accidents wouldnt happen.

      Makatikamusona - 2012-03-18 10:03

People do the Drivers License in 4 and 8 Ton trucks.... then they DRIVE A CAR!!! Rather STUPID, I think! If you do a Code 10... only drive Code 10 vehicles... If you want to drive a Car (code8)... then do your license in a Car!!!!!!!!

  • Wendy - 2012-03-18 10:55

The usual elements: lack of experience, alcohol and loss of control of the vehicle due to inappropriate speed. Very sad.

Believe it had something to do with a wedding. The driver was unlicenced and drunk. The bride or groom may also have been killed or injured from what I heard on enews. As the folk-song goes "When will they ever learn, when will they ever learn". It's not an accident it's a fatal crash, there's a difference.

I travel this way everyday . Usually a accident every week . This is the second Toyota venture/ condor overloaded to smash here this year. It's a steep downhill in a bend. If you don't know it well you heading for trouble at high speed.

Was at the Footbridge... just past NFM... travelling South!

      Michelle - 2012-03-19 08:41

And being unlicensed and pist probably does not help either. Why do people put their own lives in danger.... surely you don't get into the car with someone who is drunk??? And as for the adults who allowed the children to climb in... well the kids couldn't make a conscious decision now could they... what is that murder??

    Nobody wearing seatbelts?

  • Andre' Perestrelo - 2012-03-18 12:42

As far as I'm concerned it's one less reckless driver off the road... Harsh thing to say, I know, but it's the hard truth... The diver had every reason not to be infront of that wheel. My sympathy goes out to all the affected family members...
