3 die in Pretoria crash

Pretoria - Three men and a woman were killed when two cars collided head-on in Pretoria on Sunday, paramedics said.

ER24 spokesperson Vanessa Jackson said three people died on the scene.

"Despite the short time it took them [paramedics] to get to the incident, there was nothing further that could be done for three of the patients... they had already died as a result of injuries sustained during the impact," she said.

She said according to witnesses one of the car might have been driving contraflow along the highway, which lead to the head-on collision.

"The impact ripped both vehicles apart, and pieces of metal were strewn across the lanes of the highway. The driver was killed, as well as a male occupant and 19-year-old woman who were travelling in the other vehicle, a Toyota Yaris."

She said one of the other male occupants of the Yaris was in critical need of urgent medical care, he was rushed to Tembisa hospital, his condition deteriorated. "Sadly, nothing paramedics or hospital staff tried while resuscitating the man could stabilise him and he too died due to extensive injuries."

She said a woman believe to have been the only survivor of the collision, was treated for relatively serious injuries, but she was in a stable condition and taken to hospital.

How is this not being reported more? The other car drove straight down the opposite side of the freeway. This is the R21. It's bright at night and a huge concrete wall in the median ? Who was this murderer and what were his/her intentions ? Better reporting from ER24s blog. Oh wait... That's where you plagiarised the whole article. Get your journalists to do there jobs. !!

Given the taxi that undertook me, despite my signalling to move over, and then cut in front of me so sharply I had to break to avoid an accident. I am surprised not more people died yesterday. More visible policing is required on the highways, which are death traps

WTF news24? when are your school books arriving? 3 Die = 3 men and a woman....

      barry.mcbride - 2012-07-08 18:26

No, news24 is correct because three died IN the crash and the fourth later as a result of it! i.e. 4 die in Pretoria crash would have been incorrect because the fourth died in hospital.

BAD REPORTING!!!! The ambulance service was ER24. Why does News24 post a picture from a foreign ambulance service with the story? Are they using below average journalists?

If you investigate this incident, you will most probably see more incompetence..., Mate, that's how the cookie crumbles in SA! The Ambulance is a USA Ambulance (left hand drive - look at the dashboard in the windscreen), it clean and roadworthy.
