3 die in fiery KZN truck collision

Durban - Three people died when three trucks collided and burst into flames on the N3 highway near Estcourt on Thursday morning, KwaZulu-Natal police said.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala told News24 that the three deceased were burnt to death after they were trapped in their truck.

Three other people from the other two trucks that also caught fire managed to escape their vehicles, she said.

"They were taken to hospital for medical attention."

The accident occurred around 05:00 near the Estcourt Ultra City.

"Three people died on scene and three others were taken to hospital for medical attention. A case of culpable homicide will be opened at Estcourt police station for investigation," said Gwala.
