Johannesburg - Three men are due to appear in the Tulbagh Magistrate's Court on Monday in connection with a tractor accident which claimed the lives of eight people.

Isaak Stuurman, James van Rooyen, and Gert Engelbrecht were charged with culpable homicide after the January incident.

Stuurman was driving an earth-moving tractor on the Klein Berg River Bridge in Gouda when the incident happened.

Two trucks approached the bridge. The first was able to brake in time but the second swerved, hit a stationary vehicle and then hit the tractor. The bed of the truck was ripped off and flung into the river.

Twenty-two others were injured in the accident.

Both trucks were legally compliant. The tractor was not roadworthy.
Van Rooyen is the owner of the tractor.

Am i missing somethng here?, were the trucks following each other? Was the tractor going the same direction? So the tractor driver is charged on the basis it was nt roadworthy? Is that wat caused the accident? Wat if it was road worthy, who was going to be charged?
