Johannesburg – Three people were injured in a shoot-out, apparently between police and a group of armed robbers, at the Grayston bridge off-ramp in Sandton on Wednesday afternoon.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini confirmed there was a shoot-out, but could not immediately provide further details.

Arrive Alive said it was believed that the shoot-out was between members of the SAPS and a group of armed robbers.

Three of the alleged robbers were apparently shot, with one critically injured and the other two sustaining minor to moderate injuries.
"It's believed that the suspects were involved in an armed house robbery and fled in the victim's car. The police were able to track the vehicle and followed it. The suspects then opened fire on the police officers, resulting in the shoot-out."

A police helicopter landed on the bridge to block the road, causing heavy traffic delays.

Arrive Alive called on motorists to avoid the area.
