Johannesburg - Three people were killed and five others injured when the double cab bakkie they were travelling in overturned near Tzaneen, Limpopo police said on Sunday.

"It is alleged that the driver of this car lost control and overturned several times when he was intending to turn towards Madumeleng next to Modjadji Head Kraal [on Saturday]," Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said.

The three were killed instantly and the injured were taken to the Kgapane Hospital.

The cause of the accident is still unknown and three cases of culpable homicide were opened, said Ngoepe.

The accident happened in the same place where four people were killed last month when the driver of a sedan lost control of the vehicle.
