Polokwane - Police have re-arrested three men after they escaped from the Jane Furse police station holding cells with 11 other awaiting-trial prisoners, Limpopo police said.

One man was arrested on Monday evening and another two handed themselves over on Tuesday morning, Lieutenant Colonel Mohale Ramatseba said.

They were part of a group of 14 awaiting trial prisoners who escaped on Sunday morning after overpowering a police officer who was serving them tea.

They were awaiting trial for attempted murder, robbery, rape, vehicle theft, possession of suspected stolen property, and housebreaking.

Five were re-arrested shortly after their escape on Sunday and another three were re-arrested on Monday.

The other three were still on the run.

"The police are squeezing on their space and it is only a matter of time for their unwarranted freedom to come to an abrupt end," Ramatseba said.

All 11 arrested would appear in the Nebo Magistrate's Court on Wednesday on charges of escaping from lawful custody.

Look I really don't understand the notion of sharing the re-arrest of the escapees story since these guys will be set free in no time soon.
