Johannesburg - Three KwaZulu-Natal men were handed a total of 32 years in prison for armed robberies in KwaMashu, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Tuesday.

"The Verulam Regional Court had heard how they went on an armed robbery spree in and around KwaMashu in 2011," said spokesperson Captain Thulani Zwane.

Thabo Sikhakhane, 22, was sentenced to 24 years in jail for two counts of robbery, and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

His co-accused Ndumiso Ngwane and Sihle Ntanzi, both 18, were each sentenced to eight years in jail on one count of armed robbery each.
