Johannesburg - Three people were shot dead at the Wanderers taxi rank in Johannesburg on Tuesday, police said.

Police suspected it was connected to taxi violence in the area, Captain Pinky Tsinyane said.

"There were about seven people who were shot at the taxi station," Tsinyane told AFP.

She said one of those killed was thought to be a taxi driver.

A case of murder was being investigated, said Tsinyane.

"No one is arrested yet," she said. "We still trying to establish all these facts."

Johannesburg has a perfectly working BRT system...its time to expand so that it covers the whole metro instead of just servicing soweto-joburg only. Dark days transport systems like taxis and Putco have no future in SA.

Taxi violence? Never - it's those flea ridden colonials again.

The ANC insist that we need to use public transport but it's clearly not safe either inside or outside of a minibus taxi. You cannot call the taxi industry a viable or safe alternative to the e-tolling.

Taxi violence are not good at all because when associations fight they do not even care of inocent people and just went rampent when shooting those who think they are their enemies, so gone are the days where associations should fight for routes or positions in their respective associations. SANTACO should play part there to educate their members, meaning all associations and let them sign binding contracts so that in future any association that can work ignoring that should be puunished heavily to a point of even losing their permits to operate and if entire association is involved then those routes operated by that association be closed too and be suspended from operating as a taxi association, government with help of the the police and inteligence keep a close eye on such agreements and lastly no police officials should be allowed to own taxis unless a person resign from the police or defence force or even high profile government posts because such people can not serve two gods at the same time, that will not enable them to do their duties properly due to that. All taxi regional councils should not have friends too they should do their work which is to mediate among associations or members to avoid fightings which are hurting ordinary citizens. Lastly there should be taxi operation squad within SAPS which their duties should only focus on taxi industry violence and too a special court for dealing with that, and lastly all associations have their patrol squads

One wonders when was the last time that people of this world were at peace with each other. How many policeman we need to place behind one another to stop bribery and corruption in the SAPS alone? What about the government officials, those whom you people elected into office to run the matters of this country on your behalves? How many Christians are among those pointed to here as offenders? I saw recently someone say that there is almost 78% Christians in this country. (I am not sure if this is true though). Well, they prey more and more, their leaders shout louder and louder but the things seem to be getting worse and worse. One wonders why.
