Johannesburg - Three teenagers have been arrested for alleged stock theft in Rocklands near Uitenhage, Eastern Cape police said on Friday.

On Wednesday night, a farmer found one of his sheep slaughtered and left hanging from a tree on his farm. He alerted police, Lieutenant Colonel Priscilla Naidu said.

Police kept watch and on Thursday morning four teenagers aged between 14 and 16 came to the farm. When they saw the police they fled, but three were arrested.

They appeared in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's Court the same day and would be back in court on Monday.

Naidu said the teens would be released into their parents' custody once they had been located.

'...released in their parents' custody....'? The same parents who sent them to steal and slaughter the sheep?
