Durban – Three teenagers were killed, and 11 other children were injured after a bakkie and a bus collided near Eshowe in KwaZulu-Natal on Wednesday, emergency services said.

EMS spokesperson Robert McKenzie said the crash occurred at the Mlalazi Bridge on the R66.

The boys who died were aged between 16 and 18.

"A total of four vehicles were involved in the accident, but the two that collided sustained the most injuries," McKenzie said.

"Eleven other children were injured, one seriously so. We would like to send out condolences to the families of the children who passed away."
