300 strike, burn tyres in North West

2012-09-03 13:09

Johannesburg - North West residents protested about service delivery on Monday, said police.

"About 300 people from Oskraal, in Letlabile, started to barricade the road between Letlabile and Hebron with burning wood, tyres and stones," said Brigadier Thulani Ngubane.

"The protest is in connection with service delivery."

A delegation of 10 community members from Oskraal had begun negotiations with the local councillor to address the issue.

Ngubane said the protest began around 05:00. Police were keeping watch.

100%. The old saying goes -you get the government you deserve. Can't blame apartheid, or the capitalists or whatever derogatory comment comes to mind. You voted for the ANC, and this is what you got.

  • BigChiefPlumbPudding - 2012-09-03 13:27

So obviously the road and the road users are to blame for the lack of service delivery.

It's not as easy as switching votes for the opposition! Most of the comments on this story are dissapointing and show how some people have no grasp of what happened in the past, how its affecting the current and how it will influence the future of this country. Fact is, the Nationalist govt did much worse than the current ANC. Yes the ANC is failing to deliver and marred by corruption, but you have to appreciate the dillema of either reverting to the Apartheid Masters or expressing your anger and disgust at the party that was supposed to reverse the apartheid consequences. I am not condoning the violence or damage to property but we need frame the discussion properly rather than trivialising it...

      shaylene.stenger - 2012-09-04 11:35

And that is the garbage that the ANC has fed into your head!!!!!! And the fears and lies they have educated you with!!!!!!

  • ken.grimblegrumble - 2012-09-03 14:42

I always think of the 4 D's when it comes to the majority of the ANC supporters. Devourer, Defecate, Demand and Destroy. This is the total sum of their lives, they have no other purpose.

  • morama.sebata - 2012-09-03 15:10

Stop destroying the infrastructure because you will need it tomorrow....anyway that's what you have voted for by putting ANC into power!!! There's still more to come because the leaders they voted for doesn't give a s#it about people's well being!!!
