Johannesburg - Four people have been arrested for allegedly assaulting a 25-year-old woman in Zola, Soweto, police said on Wednesday.

A fight broke out on Tuesday after the woman was accused of causing a power cut at the house where she was a tenant, Warrant Officer Kay Makhubele said.

The 45-year-old landlord and three members of her family, aged 31, 35, and 37, attacked the woman.

"They used knives, bottles and an assegai."

Neighbours called the police. The woman was receiving treatment at a local hospital.

The four were expected to appear in the Protea Magistrate's Court on Thursday on charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Barbarians! What is to become of SA? God needs to take action - it's our only hope. Disgusting things!

      lynn.syme.1 - 2012-06-27 19:18

God need to take action? Are you serious?

      deana.boshoff - 2012-06-27 19:23

Lynn, I am dead serious. If you don't believe, it's your loss. Our Government can't do anything about the barbarians, you and me can't. What is left but faith and prayer to an Almighty God?

lol, i can see exactly where this conversation is going. and imma side with your opposition deana. your belief that god will save sa is a little childish. sa is firmly in the hands of its citizens. some of them riot and burn down hospitals, others post pointless comments on news24 (this includes me lol) im a firm believer in god, he inspires and empowers me. but at the end of the day, when it comes right down to it, everything has to be done by our own hands

Time for me to get some thumbs down! Deana, instead of your God taking action in South Africa, perhaps He could have backtrack all the horrible stuff that has happened in the past 7000 years (because there was nothing before that) - I'd especially enjoy the Crusades, the Spanish Inquisition and the Witch Hunts and the other innumerable atrocities committed in the name of religion. Now, I'm not saying you don't have a right to religion, but we as human beings need to stand up for what is right and wrong with ourselves, instead of looking elsewhere for salvation. Our only hope is to stop blaming everything else and realize that we give criminals too many rights. Without consequences, rules are irrelevant.

The government must do more to educate people about the rental tribune, its free and such tenant issues can be solved better

      lynn.syme.1 - 2012-06-27 19:18

How about just using self-control? Since when are small issues resolved by violence?

      Sharon - 2012-06-27 19:40

@ lynn, this has been going on for centurys in africa,it will never change

      emile.vanrayner.7 - 2012-06-27 19:52

agree with lynn, unless somebody tried to cause me harm i have no right to do so to them, and even then the "eye for an eye" mentality is never the best way to go. the government unfortunately cannot teach people decency... not that they would bother even if they could
