Mbombela - Three men and a woman were arrested on Saturday for fraud when they tried to steal money from an NGO's bank account, Mpumalanga police said.

The four, aged between 30 and 52, would appear in court on Monday on fraud charges, Colonel Leonard Hlathi said.

The group had been under investigation since June, Hlathi said.

The allegedly stole money from bank accounts of non-governmental organisations (NGOs), using fraudulent documents.

They targeted organisations which had R1m or more in their account.

"They were working with bank officials," Hlathi said.

One man and woman were arrested inside the bank while trying to withdraw a large amount.

"The other two were arrested outside the bank and the other two - who were in the getaway car - sped off."

More arrests were imminent, Hlathi said.

I believe the bank in question is absa cos they had too many cases where people lost their money (large amount) and when they make follow ups they get the same answer, which is ----we can't help you cos you gave your PIN to another person, today at list the men and women in blue they found that person and who is their staff .Job well done ,I hope de case will not be withdrawn like the one of stadium construction.
