Burgersfort – Four people were killed when the bakkie they were travelling in overturned along the R555 between Ohrigstad and Burgersfort on Monday, Limpopo police say.

Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said seven other people had been seriously injured in the accident that occurred about 07:30.

The bakkie was travelling from Bushbuckridge, in Mpumalanga, to Podungwane, outside Lebowakgomo, when the driver lost control, said Ngoepe.

"The identities of the deceased persons will be released after their next of kin are informed," he said.

Police investigations were still continuing, Ngoepe added.

Meanwhile, six people died and about 50 others were injured when an extra-length bus crashed into a stationary truck on the N8 outside Bloemfontein, Netcare 911’s Nick Dollman said.
