Johannesburg - Four former police reservists were
arrested in Johannesburg for impersonating police officers, Gauteng police said
on Monday.
The four, aged between 27 and 40, were
arrested on the corner of De Villiers and Harrison streets on Friday afternoon,
Warrant Officer Xoli Mbele said.
Police received a tip off that the two men
and two women were allegedly targeting foreigners demanding bribes from them.
"Police... saw the group and stopped
them," Mbele said.
"They searched them and recovered the
following items; [a] wallet with Saps [SA Police Service] emblem, police
handcuffs, and Saps appointment certificate."
The group was expected to appear in the
Johannesburg Magistrate's Court soon.
