Bloemfontein - Five members of the Born To Kill gang, accused of killing two of their own members, have been denied bail, the Hawks said on Tuesday.

The five, aged between 17 and 19, appeared in the Mangaung One Stop Child Justice Centre on Monday.

Their matter was held in camera because one of them is a minor. They are expected back in court on September 12.

“Investigations are ongoing and we are pleading with the community to assist us with information regarding the remaining suspects,” said spokesperson S'fiso Nyakane.

They allegedly attacked the two fellow gang members, aged between 19 and 20, in Chris Hani Phase 3, Bloemfontein, because the two wanted to leave the gang.

They stabbed and hacked them with pangas. One was hacked to death in his home in front of his parents. He died in hospital.

The killers stole two cellphones, a DVD player, and R200 in cash before running away.
