Bloemfontein – Five men were arrested in Welkom for business robberies, Free State police said on Sunday.

Police on Saturday received information that a tavern burglary was planned, which led to a house in Dagbreek in Welkom where they stumbled upon five men busy counting money, said spokesperson Molebogeng Lechesa.

"The police searched the house and found two broken safes, an alarm system and a computer which, investigation revealed... were stolen during a business burglary at a cosmetics shop...," she said.

A white BMW X3 and a maroon Toyota Hilux were confiscated.

Cases of possession of suspected stolen property and business burglary were opened.

The men would appear in the Welkom Magistrate's Court soon.
