6 months at rehab centre for Pippie

Johannesburg - Burn victim Isabella "Pippie" Kruger was released from hospital on Wednesday, her doctor Ridwan Mia said.

"Pippie is not going home, but she's been admitted to a Netcare rehabilitation centre in Auckland Park in Johannesburg."

The 3-year-old girl is still recovering after undergoing groundbreaking skin-graft surgery at Johannesburg's Garden City Hospital last month.

Sheets of skin, cloned from a sample taken from her body, were grown in a laboratory in the US. The skin was then flown to South Africa were doctors successfully attached it.

It was the first time this type of advanced skin graft had been performed in Africa.

Pippie sustained burns to about 80% of her body when a gel lighter exploded at a New Year’s braai.

For the next six months, she would undergo physio, speech, and occupational therapy.

"I am positive she'll continue to do well. She's improved a lot since the surgery and even her parents are pleased with her progress," said Mia.

She will be fine. She'll need all the help and support she can get from everyone.Get well soon brave little one.Utter heartbreak for me reading about your incident little Pippie. You have the most beautiful eyelashes. I always found Psalms 41:3 to be very encouraging for people undergoing this sort of incidents in their lives:"The LORD will sustain him on his sickbed and restore him from his bed of illness."

@sean and of course the doctors helped or didn't they ? Go pippie science saved the day again ... The doctors steady hands did more than 2000 clasped in prayer... Damn the man...

@jody.beggs This is neither the time nor the place to spread your anti-God,anti-Bible rhetoric. You have an opinion on this story and others people have theirs too. But you don't see me coming out with "damn the man" comments towards you,so why do feel your opinionated reactions justifies such a bizarre & weird reaction? This little girl's story is about a beautiful poor little toddler that's going through a helava lot in such a short space of time. Her parents facebook page and the comments that's on there, suggest that they're firm believers in GOD and readers of the Bible, which is why verses like the one in Psalms 41 is so encouraging to read. I didn't say anything derogatory about the medical personnel that did so exceptionally well for Pippie in curing her wounds,I merely quoted scripture that brings inner comfort and relieve when undergoing traumatic experiences in ones life. In the Bible(2 Corinthians 4:7)it's refer to as the "power beyond what is normal",beyond human strength that is in coping with adversities or calamities. What's wrong in that? Don't be so damn quick to pass judgement upon others or what they believe in.

@sean its not anti-god its a fact. thank the doctors and leave your delusion at home....
