Johannesburg - Six men believed to be on their way to rob a business were arrested in southern Johannesburg on Wednesday evening, Ekurhuleni metro police said.

Following a tip-off, plain clothes officers stopped a minibus taxi travelling towards Tembisa on the corner of Heidelberg Road and the N3 north onramp in Roodekop, Inspector Kobeli Mokheseng said.

All 16 occupants were searched. Six of them, all men aged between 25 and 41, were arrested. Three unlicensed guns were found in their possession.

They were expected to appear in the Alberton Magistrate's Court soon.

Police can't do it alone because they are not there when criminals plan to do crime. I salute whistle blowers. Who know what was going to happen if the police did't get a tip-off…

Everyday we hear bad things of cops. Lets think about this. These cops did not just stopped a robbery but also safed a persons life. Thank you to those who still try

A tip-off isn't enough. Cut the whole thing off.

They'll be living on taxpayers money for a couple of months, and then the docket will get lost, or something to the extent that the case has to be dropped. The crooked cops outnumber the hard-working ones.
