7 dead in Vereeniging accident

Johannesburg - Seven men have been killed after a head on collision on the R82 in Vereeniging, paramedics said on Saturday.

"Two men in the [VW] Jetta and five who were travelling in the [Opel] Corsa did not survive their injuries," said ER24 paramedics in a statement.

The two cars collided head on at about 4pm.

"The force of the impact had been so severe that it had left both vehicles extensively damaged."

An investigation into the accident is underway.

Earlier, a separate head on collision on the R54 outside Vereeniging, left three dead and four critically injured.
