Johannesburg – The office of Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng has announced the names of eight candidates recommended for an Independent Electoral Commission vacancy.

The candidates were shortlisted after an interview with a panel chaired by Mogoeng.

The panel consisted of representatives from the South African Human Rights Commission, the Commission for Gender Equality and the Public Protector.

Candidates' backgrounds and performance in the interviews led to the eight being shortlisted.

They are:

- Ms Lovetta Carline Bolters;

- Ms Teresa Conradie;

- Prof Isobel Elise Konyn;

- Ms Janet Love;

- Ms Mamodupi Mohlala-Mulaudzi;

"Upon receipt of this list, a committee comprising representatives from all parties in the National Assembly will consider the names and identify a candidate to be appointed by the president," Mogoeng's office said on Friday.
