Cape Town - Eight people were injured in the early hours of Sunday morning when two vehicles collided on the R61 in Port Edward.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha in a statement said paramedics were called out to the scene in Burners Rest where they found the roadway littered with accident debris as well as the twisted frames of the vehicles.

“After the injured were triaged it was found that eight people had sustained injuries ranging from serious to minor,” he said.

“Medics stabilised the injured at the scene before transporting them to various hospitals for the care that they required.”

Police are investigating what led to the crash.
