Cape Town - Thirteen people, including 9 school kids were slightly injured when two marquees collapsed during a government event in the Eastern Cape on Saturday.

The two marquee structures collapsed during the World Fisheries Day celebrations in Humansdorp, which were attended by agriculture minister Senzeni Zokwana and MEC Mlibo Qoboshiyane.

Zokwana’s spokesperson Bomikazi Molapo said in a statement that it was not clear what caused the collapse, and government would investigate it.

All the injured were treated and discharged immediately, Molapo said.
