ANC IFP spat in district of uMkhanyakude

UMKHANYAKUDE District mayor Jeff Vilane has accused the IFP of spreading lies about the district municipality.

Vilane, during a media briefing yesterday, accused the IFP of underdevelopment in uMkhanyakude in their 10 years of “mis-rule”.

This after the IFP called its own press conference last week where they made allegations of corruption and ill-discipline by ANC councillors in the district municipality.

“The ANC-led uMkhanyakude has made tremendous strides since 2011 when it took over from the IFP which remains responsible for the last vestiges of past financial mismanagement, huge budgetary deficits and poor financial control measures,” said Vilane.

The IFP has also alleged irregularities in the procurement of several service delivery initiatives, including water tankers, piping and the drilling of bore-holes.

Vilane said all water tankers, piping and boreholes were delivered under oversight by the council, which includes IFP councillors.

IFP leader Velenkosini Hlabisa said to this day, “there is not a single water tanker in the district”
