Mbombela - Eleven people accused of attacking a Mpumalanga ANC ward councillor appeared in the Nelspruit Regional Court on Thursday.

A Sapa correspondent reported they pleaded not guilty to charges of public violence and malicious damage to property.

They allegedly attacked Zwelisha Ward 4B councillor Elizabeth Maziya and trashed her house on 19 January 2012.

The group's lawyer, Lucky Zulu, asked the court to postpone the matter for him to consult with the accused.

"I also did not have a chance to study the docket. I was looking for it on Wednesday but to no avail," he told the court.

Magistrate Shirley Msibi postponed the case until Monday for trial.

Celiwe Nkambule, Promise Mashaba, Maria Ndlala, Saina Milazi, Oscar Mndawe, Vincent Mdluli, Khulisiwe Mashaba, David Ntsanda, Ntomfuthi Khoza, Phindile Sekatane, and Innocent Nkosi are out on warning.
