ANC outraged at Zille's refugee comment

2012-03-21 14:18

Johannesburg - The ANC on Wednesday bemoaned opposition leader Helen Zille's comment in which she referred to Eastern Cape pupils who flocked to the Western Cape for a better education as refugees.

"The ANC is vindicated by the statement made by Helen Zille," said African National Congress spokesman Jackson Mthembu.

"This is typical of the erstwhile apartheid government's mentality that resorted to influx control measures to restrict black people from the so-called white areas."

Mthembu said the statement was "racist" and must not must not be tolerated.

The DA leader sparked a war on social networking site Twitter on Tuesday as many users were angered by her use of the word "refugee".

However, Zille remained firm and defended herself throughout the day.

Her statement was in reference to a protest in Grabouw over overcrowding at a local school.

The DA shifted the blame to the department of public works’ continuous delays in approving alternative land to build additional school buildings in the area.

"Zille's racist statement underpins the DA's policy of exclusionism of blacks," said Mthembu.

"She will never say the same thing about whites who relocate from one area of the country to the Western Cape or even those who relocate from other countries to the Western Cape.

"To reduce South Africans who have free movement in their own country as refugees is tantamount to instigating against them by labelling them with a tag associated with foreigners," Mthembu said.

Asked by a Twitter user on Tuesday to define a refugee, Zille responded: "Refugees are ppl who have to escape because their rights are violated. That describes E Cape pupils exactly."

Mthembu said the DA viewed blacks as useful voters to win elections and nothing else.

"We call on all black DA members to see the DA for what it is, a white racist party," he said.

"We also call on all those blacks who are in leadership structures of the DA for window dressing purposes to resign from the DA and not be used unduly."

Lets play the race card-the only thing the anc has in its defence arsenal! The truth hurts, they have no solution to give so blame it on apartheid and race! Yawn....

      seanhcape - 2012-03-21 14:57

The ANC has lost the ability to retaliate verbally because all their sectors of governance have failed in their provinces. You would think that they would get a city like Johannesburg right. But they're just pathetic. The DA is getting it right in the Western Cape. It may not be perfect yet, but they've already done more improvement in their 3 years in the Western Cape than what the ANC could muster in the 18 years since it began promising in 1994. The ANC is a bunch of self-serving losers that doesn't give a damn about its people. If only their current supporters would realise that. The race card is what they use when they have nothing else to respond with. It's become their way of acknowledging that the DA has bettered them. The truth hurts. Doesn't it ANC?

      Oscar - 2012-03-21 15:41

Kolobe, why are you still seeking the approval of white people or their acceptance? Do you have no pride in your own abilities and self-worth? Grow a pare you simpleton.

      Shirley - 2012-03-21 15:46

Bambanani and Kolobe: You are both sad individuals who have not and never will do ANYTHING to create a peaceful South Africa. You would rather live in the past and be hateful than move forward and be a better person. You seem to forget that South Africa belongs to ALL those who live in her! You are both racists, antagonisers and of no consequence!

      Ruan - 2012-03-21 16:02

kolobe,,,when are you going to go back north to where you originally came from and leave the country to those who want to work and not have it handed to them? ,,,,ooooooops sorry i forgot you were being chased from up north by the arabs which is why you came here,,,sorry my bad,,,but its ok theyre gone now so head back north,,,

      phillip.havenga - 2012-03-21 16:55

Kolobe you mean as soon as people like Malema run the country into the ground then the filth and degenerates such as yourself can be free to starve to death and murder innocent people while fighting for who's going to be in power next.

      goyougoodthing - 2012-03-21 17:19

Kolobe, maybe we should have just put a fence around Africa and left you lot to your huts and skins. Not sure your lazy leaders would be so stoked not having German cars and airconditioning... but perhaps we should just go and leave you lot to it. No outside, imperialist aid either.

      Oscar - 2012-03-21 18:07

@Dawood, I 100% agree with you. So where you are sitting in your tin shack without running water and food just remember who you voted for...but I assume you will only realise your own stupidity the day Malema takes away your cellphone as well...stupidity knows no colour.

      Evaline - 2012-03-21 18:30

@ Kolobe "when do the european refugees leave africa for ourselves?" - Because that worked out so well in Zimbabwe, with severe hyperinflation (11,200,000% as of August 2008), an 80% unemployment rate, food shortages, a health system that has collapsed, cholera and disease outbreaks, increased infant mortality, 25% HIV infection rate, and the lowest life expectancy in the world (44 for men and 43 for women). Yes, that work outed perfectly.

      Sean - 2012-03-21 18:55

      @Bambanani - Zille is 100% right , the truth hurts ! Imbecile !!!

      Cameron - 2012-03-21 19:00

Kolobe...i asked u to throw urself infront of truck weeks ago?? why havent u done it yet? u want me to ask nicely...cause i can.... SA will be better without u in it...simple as that...

      christian.helberg - 2012-03-22 06:58

@Kolobe "when do the european refugees leave africa for ourselves" LOL, yeah now that you have a WESTERN EDUCATION, wear WESTERN CLOTHES, prolonging your life with WESTERN MEDICINES, using WESTERN TECHNOLOGIES, like your car, the keyboard you are typing on, the TV you watch, the written lanuage that you use, your alphabet, pretty much everything! Not being racist, but if you hate the westerners so much why embrace the western way of life, inventions etc.

      Ali - 2012-03-22 08:14

"To reduce South Africans who have free movement in their own country as refugees is tantamount to instigating against them by labelling them with a tag associated with foreigners," Mthembu said. ...... So why not publicly condemn the ancyl for calling all whites foreigners then? That's the real racist statement, not that of Helen which never mentions race. Double standard I see... Come on, I'm waiting for the outrage about that..

      Jacqui - 2012-03-22 10:19

Bambanani, speaking to some black people the other day they all agreed that the Bantu education they received under apartheid was much better than what their grandchildren are receiving now. You know I really feel sorry when another black person, like you, write in anger and all it shows is a total lack of knowledge. You see yourself as a victim and that cloak feels so warm and comfortable, that you will continue to hide behind it for the rest of your life.It is a shame really, now we will never see what you could have achieved had you taken your fate in your own hands instead of throwing stones at whites for ever.

      Myvision - 2012-03-22 12:06

Zille is 100% right about the state of education in the Eastern Cape and the department we all know is under administration but to call people refugees in their country is an insult.

      Jack - 2012-03-22 12:06

Haha the ANC sangomas are afraid of the DA white witch :D ...(white)* as in good ;)

      Helmut - 2012-03-22 16:33

Jackson Mthembu - what a moron! He and anybody in the ANCE can play the race card as often as they like, but everybody knows that they are not playing with a full deck!

      Willie - 2012-03-22 16:36

@-goyougoodthing thats the problem of generalising,in the first place you are not sure that Kolobe guy is african.Do not fall into a trap of people who are bend on polarising the rest of thinking peoplein SA

      Tanie - 2012-03-22 23:03

janine, you are too narcissistic, What makes you think my JoJo will stand up for your MoMo. Yeh? - 2012-03-23 11:51

I agree with you, as the only card they can play is the "race" card. Zille tells it like it's the absolute truth in what she said. And, the truth hurts! Zille for president!

  • phathuchicos - 2012-03-21 14:35

Really when will ANC in eastern cape learn to put where their big mouths into action...every year in the beggining eastern cape teachers have to cause a scandal, not to mention the likes of sicelo shiceka"the bling king" anc an ambassador of black people in this country?...DA has the right to say whatever in their terriotory...and ANC must deliver in their terriotories too so that next time when western capers invades they say the same thing...

      Nigel - 2012-03-21 14:55

well said, I was just about to get really angry with these ANC Hypocrites

      Narike - 2012-03-21 16:24

Gauteng suffers from the same problem in even greater measure - their education system is about to crash because of the influx of EC pupils who are fleeing a province that has collapsed due to corruption and gross mismanagement.

      Patiwe - 2012-03-21 18:13

M'Afrika you are right, the issue here is the delivery of quality education for our children, now they are turning the issue into a race thing. They are parthetic and sour losers. They lost the WC to DA fair and square. I live in the EC, I said after the ellection, the WC will be the only well managed province, and that is proven to be true. You see corruption is institutionalised in the ANC that is the problem. People are appointed to positions of responsibility that they don't have a clue about. Then they have to return the favour to their masters through corrupt means. Who suffers the poorest of the poor.

      Bongeka - 2012-03-22 03:53

Yes Azanian, corruption is there no doubt about it.Everybody knows that. But aunty Helen Zille has no right to call people refugees. That word might have a genuine meaning but the fact is,it's always associated with foreigners. So calling people from Eastern Cape refugees was uncalled for. She could've just said people from Eastern Cape are causing influx in her well maintained province called Western Cape because they don't get joy in their province.People would've commented about how well or bad those two provinces are maintained.Well I've never been to both those provinces but by the comments here and the media I have the idea of how they look.According to my sources yes Western Cape is well maintained but racially divided. Well the race problem is all over the world but we don't expect leaders to cause more division. You can hate me for my comment but that's how I see it and if you don't see it like I do then you'll be living in denial.

      Antipoaching - 2012-03-22 09:47

I agree 100% with you Azanian. The ANC has, unfortunately, done my beloved Province no favours in the last 18 years, all their cadre deployments have been anything but "top drawer" appointments, as happened under Apartheid, we are the forgotten Province here to be raped for our labour, natural beauty and natural resources other than that we are viewed as a province of ignorant, un-educated peasants who deserve no better than we are getting. I am gatvol of being a 3rd class citizen in my own country!

      Alex - 2012-03-22 13:54

The Azanian, i agree with u. No doubt ANC is strugling to cope with the work load at hand. DA and Hellen, in particular has been getting it right all along, but this time, she got it horribly wrong. It takes many years to build a good reputation, but it only takes a mere slip of fingers over the key tboard to destroy that whole good reputation. Lesson learnt: Hellen, your comments on social media should go via your advisers first before getting into the public domain. We all learn the hard way and it's never too late to learn, especially if you have the courage to swallow your bride and say "i'm sorry about my verbal vomits that i made on social media regarding people from EC". Never push people into a situation where they end up saying an injury to one is an injury to all. I can imagine, you said it in good faith, but unfortunately people on social media did not take it in good faith. It is easy to get carried away in social media and find your self perfoming all sorts of verbal acrobatics. Don't find your self being compared to people like Hitler, Charles Taylor, Magret Thatcher, Mugabe, Mobuto Reagan, Osama bin Laden and many more. U are way above them, intellectually and morally (factoring out your recent verbal vomits about people from EC. Aim high and be at the level of people like Mandela, Jacob Zuma, Joshua Nkomo, Barack Obama and many more. Good luck and have fun in your political career.

      Michael - 2012-03-23 08:00

Narike: In spite of influx of EC pupils into Gauteng, no one has ever labelled them refugees! Stop defending wrong things ONLY because they come from Helen. At this rate, you and colleagues in n24 forum fuel hostility against DA and its supporters.

      William - 2012-03-23 13:17

@Alex. How can you put Jacob Zuma and Nelson Mandela in the same category?? Are you that blind to the fact that JZ is messing up this country good & proper? & to all those who want to accuse DA supporters &/or ANC detractors of being RACIST, just think back to the post '94 days about how much support & love pretty much everyone in this country had for Mandela & the ANC. That was not based on was based on hope & the coming together of our various cultures. The people in power since then have torn us apart though. Post '94 the DA was nowhere...hardly any you know the story. So use your brain & see what's going on. Wake up before it's too late. DA fights for all South Africans. Zille got it right... EC students ARE refugees if they need to trek out to another province to get basic education... refugee has nothing to do with "foreigners" a dictionary!

  • peter.bolze - 2012-03-21 14:40

WTF the race card again - The education department in the Eastern Crap has collapsed!

      samantha.lister.09 - 2012-03-21 14:51

I'm brunette :) And here is some "reading" for you to do, Simthandile: "refugee (?r?fj?'d?i?) — n a.a person who has fled from some danger or problem, esp political persecution"

      Adam - 2012-03-21 15:01

The education system in EVERY anc province has collapsed. Tha anc has many people are dying at this moment, only for want of very basic services.

      werner.steenkamp1 - 2012-03-21 15:08

Oh ja sure Simthandile and what about xenephobia thats not racist at all ne only when someone white says something like that its racist. Think for a change when our children cant go to school here where wil they go.

      Ronald - 2012-03-21 15:18

Simthandile, what would you then call people that are travelling at great speed(I call it fleeing) away from poverty, no jobs, no service delivery, a failing health system, a almost bankrupt and mostly corrupt local government, an almost non existent public housing system and transport system that is falling apart? Is that your idea of an ANC utopia? There is little difference in the plight of those people from the Eastern Cape to those of Zimbabwe, Burundi, etc when they arrive here. In their minds they are fleeing a failing government that does not care what happens to the people other than what they can squeeze from them.

      Bibi - 2012-03-21 15:19

@Simthandile: me thinks you do not know what the word means. Any race and nationality can be a refugee looking for greener pastures. Amen. You do know that the Western Cape had the best matric results last year, do you.

      Elize - 2012-03-21 15:22

@Simthandile this comming from a blondie, meaning of refugee "ONE (not white, not black, not coloured but one) who flees to a shelter or place of safety"!! So before you come here and talk s..t again try and figure out how to work a dictionary and make sure of your so called facts!!

      jannie.beirowski - 2012-03-21 15:26

@ Simpel Mcondoo, why are you all attacking the word 'refugee'and ignoring the fact that students are fleeing the EC, the bad environment, to the WP, the good environment? Call a rose by any name, it still smells good, so call the fleeing by any name, it means they are changing from the EC to the WC to find better services, schooling, total environment.

      J.A.Rademan - 2012-03-21 15:55

@Simthandumbo. They are fleeing the education system. In other words refugees from a pathetic education system. The statement might be strongly and politically loaded, but if true it is absolutely correct. You have proved you don't need to be blond to be ignorant !!!

      mbossenger - 2012-03-21 17:27

Simthandile Mpondo - so carry on arguing about semantics and the definition of the word "refugee" and ignore the failing education system in the Eastern Cape, then.

      Kobus - 2012-03-21 18:10

Bamboonani....jy klink slim, weet jy hoe werk 'n graaf?

      Evaline - 2012-03-21 19:35

@Simthandile Mpondo And you need to look up the definition of refugee The definition of refugee is a "person who has been forced to leave their country in order to escape war, persecution, or natural disaster." Being a refugee has nothing to do with colour.

      Russan - 2012-03-21 22:10

REFUGEE- a person who has BASIC human rights violated, all SA has a right to education- Madiba signed the constitution! not education under a tree or in a railway shed ! in a damm school you ANC failures cannot will not see the point !

      JohnSA02 - 2012-03-22 06:58

The ANC worries about a comment that has truth to it? Do they worry about all the problems being created by their inability to lead? Almost every comment they make could be challenged, and not only be the opposition, but also by their followers. But no, they are fast asleep as to what is happening to this beautiful country, and unfortanutely caused by the ANC itself.

      Bambanani - 2012-03-22 17:32

@paul,i am not taking you serous,i suppose you are not worth talking too,you even suggest i should stop being in my computer you were probably an askari during those days, keep cool aint going anywhere.

  • Errol - 2012-03-21 14:40

Dear ANC...the truth hurts..doesn't it???????Never mind Zille 's comment(good or bad??).What the ANC should REALLY be concerned about is the 7 plus million real refugees from Zim,Mozam,Somalia,Nigeria,DRC etc etc etc........

      Nkosinathi - 2012-03-21 15:50

You mention only the African countries, what about Chineese, and ALL "Refugees" from Australia?

      Riaan - 2012-03-21 16:34

They bring skills and are not here to steal and sponge on our public health system. That's the difference

      PeggySven - 2012-03-21 16:48

@Nkosinathi, those people from Australia and China that come to South Africa are not refugees, they are people who move there to make money and exploit the uneducated CancER supporters, like yourself. They bring skills to a country that is kept ignorant and marginalised by the very people that they vote for and are able to leave once they have created wealth for themselves and their families. Something the ignorant and uneducated unemployed CancER voter is unable to do. When South Africa collapses like all other Black "Independent" (They have to beg the West for AID to survive) there is not a country in the world that will want the Black people from South Africa who are totally unemployable due to the fact that they have been kept down by the people that they thought were their saviours. The CancER party (aptly named as all they are able to do is spend money on parties and enriching themselves and not their population)

      Archie - 2012-03-22 08:52

I think its more like 16 million refugees.

      Vaughan - 2012-03-22 09:43

@Nkosinathi, huh "refugees" from Australia. And well the Chinese arent actually refuges, the Chinese central government refuses to use African workers in their core African operations, so they ship out Chinese to Africa. Around 1 million a year come in, so guess what Africa is being re-conolized again, ironically with Africa's blessing as they buy off African leaders.

      Bambanani - 2012-03-22 14:18

@errol is colour blind he can only complain about blacks african, africa belong to africans.

      Warren - 2012-03-22 19:11

And south africans as well...there are 320000 who settled in the UK and never wanted to return legal and illegal , 148000 in Australia , over 100K in america all within the last please tell me which country do not have fact we all become refugees at some point in life and there is nothing wrong about it..The records in glasgow shows that out of 14000 asylum claims in the last 10 years , 948 were south african born of white ethnicity...and south african are likely to be refugees than any country in the world in the coming decade...its normal!!

  • johncarlos.biza - 2012-03-21 14:43

Gauteng is never hostile towards its gazilion migrants from other provinces, unlike Western Capers.

      Grant - 2012-03-21 14:48

There was no hostility... Accepting "refugees" is a good thing, and showns concern for their well-being rather than hostility towards their presence.

      Bibi - 2012-03-21 15:16

@Jamba & Johncarlos: good question. Why do they bother to come to the only province who is run by the white madam and is the only province who got a clean financial audit. And to top that nogal they had the best matric results with the 3 best universities and to top it all everything works, so I really do wonder why these people move in their 1000's to the Western Cape.

      freda.coetzee - 2012-03-21 15:22

That is why we the South African Population is restless...Jobs are being taken by Refugee's...If the governments helps the people ( And that is a good thing) they must keep them and feed them in Refugee camps.Until it is safe for them to return from were they come. Dictionary explains the word REFGEE as=somebody seeking a safe place:++++ somebody who is seeking or taking refuge, especially from war or persecution, by going to a foreign country (often used before a noun) Can be black or white.

      Elize - 2012-03-21 15:25

Lets say no more about Gauteng hey!!

      Hugo - 2012-03-21 16:23

      Mkulisi - 2012-03-21 19:35

Agree 100% carlos Cape town is very un welcoming to people of other provinces.

      Vaughan - 2012-03-22 09:46

@JohncarlosBiza I take it you are making a funny... Just burning shops down, panga attacks, thats the Gauteng welcome...

      leemalin.moodley - 2012-03-22 12:58

Western Cape is the most tolerant of all the provinces!! I moved here from KZN, and keep saying its like another country, others say its another planet, such is the difference in hospitality.

  • Mark - 2012-03-21 14:43

She is quite correct, they are refugees fleeing from under-developed areas where THE ANC ARE IN CONTROL. As opposed to vindicating the ANC this clearly vindicates what the DA have done in the western Cape. The ANC have lost the plot, (ab)used the money and now they're crying "Wolf". The ANC are the wolf.

      Glyn - 2012-03-21 15:19

The anc are chickens! Make a lot of noise, run around in circles and do not lay golden eggs! Spell anc in lower case letters! They do not deserve upper case letters!

      Garth - 2012-03-21 15:22

Control? Come on Mark, the only thing that the useless, worthless anc have under control are the ignorants that vote them in year after year.

      ChristopherGlenHarrison - 2012-03-21 16:04

So when everybody from all over the country moves to Johannesburg for jobs, should we also be attributing that to the amazing job that the ANC are doing? Or, just maybe, might these patterns of movement have more to do with the lure of the bigger cities?

      richard.hipkin - 2012-03-22 09:19

@Christopher, there is a difference between trying to find a job and trying to better your children's education - I find it laughable you trying to compare the two.

      Bambanani - 2012-03-22 14:24

@mark h,u convienient forgot that gauteng also have a lot of people going there for better education and employement but you will never hear the premier of gauteng telling south africa that the is a refugee problems, zille knows very well what she said was very unfortunate and should do the honorable thing and withdraw that statement for the sake of those black people who are still voting for her.

      Elton - 2012-03-22 15:35

@ Bambanani - You are so right there Bambanani! The premier of Gauteng don't give a sh*t about you or the education, just her R1 200 00 car and blue light thugs. Thanks for clearing it up.

  • phathuchicos - 2012-03-21 14:44

Ja exactly. And how the hell can this be racist?

      Garth - 2012-03-21 15:24

      phangolicious - 2012-03-22 15:48

AZANIA - your ignorance is evidently clear with all your comments! fact is Western Cape, has always been the epitomy of good education since the English Took it away from the Dutch & German Collonial racists, fact is we the people are free to go study anywhere in this country!! we don't need passport to go to WC & study, very soon Zille & the DA will try & push a policy that requires the latter!! or even worse a visa to visit WC, what a bunch of hypocrites, the Western Cape has always been free for all to visitors & people who seek better life & it's beauty, Now the DA wants to take Glory of a pure natural human culture of people taking care of their own!! the people of Cape Town, both Black & white love their city to death, the only Think Zille will succeed in her new Agenda of peddling the Western Cape as a product of DA, is alienation from the people, all true African Whites, Colourds & Blacks ...... she must never for once think WC is DA's product, they found it the way it is, they are as corrupt as the ANC, all politicians are the same, e.g the only reason she mentions the Eastern Cape, is because in her stupid little mind, she "boxes up" all people who come from the Eastern Cape as ANC voters who come to potentially reduce her cling into power........ what a shame!!

  • Muhammed Bhyat - 2012-03-21 14:45

This racial black and white talk in South Africa really makes me sick. When will we move beyond racializing everything?

      Pythagoras - 2012-03-21 14:56

When some of these (not all, please don't get me wrong) black people stop blaming the white man for everything! I bet you most whites are willing to accept the idea of a mixed SA, but as long as we get blamed for everything, things will not change!

phathuchicos - 2012-03-21 15:25 got to be kidding...come to Pretoria if you want to see how both purple and red people looked at a couples of mixed races...don't defend a specific race...we are in this together when its time for counselling I think we should both go. Whats the use or counselling one partner in marriage if they are having problems...????

      Ronald - 2012-03-21 15:27

We will only move beyond this when it fails to benefit others financially, politically or physically. It is up to us to have the backbone and conviction to stop people like that in their tracks, be they AWB, ANC, ANCYL, AGRIFORUM or whatever. The quality of a car or its dependability does not depend on the colour. It depends on the factory where it is made(the parents and society), the driver of the car(ourselves) and the quality of upkeep(the government).

      Trevor - 2012-03-21 20:52

When government stops pushing Affirmative Action and BBEEE....lead by example, just ask old ShowerHead with his 7 wives, unknown amount of girlfriends on the Julius calls him.

      Bambanani - 2012-03-22 14:27

when people like pytha have migrated to australia

  • Dennis - 2012-03-21 14:47

Eish Jackson, all that Black Label has rotted your Butterworth brain !!

  • Chaapo - 2012-03-21 14:48

She is speaking the truth - internal displacement caused by socio-economic conditions which in turn are caused by the incompetence of the ANC leadership in that province.

  • Claudio - 2012-03-21 14:52

Terry is correct in pointing out to Bambanani that the so-called refugees are leaving extremely badly run ANC strongholds to get a better education and improve their job prospects in the Western Cape. His inabality to admit this simple fact makes him resort to using the standard boring racist rant.

  • Hilton - 2012-03-21 14:53

Jackson...Just stop to think for a while....and you will come to the obvious conclusion, that your beloved A.N.C Government is under tremendous pressure. Not only on the education front, but on all fronts. I have a saying for you....."Nothing good and nothing bad lasts forever"

      Glyn - 2012-03-21 15:25

The anc are panicking! They are losing votes daily! Those kids from the Eastern Cape who come to the Western Cape are going to vote DA! Those workers from the Eastern Cape who come to the Western Cape are not going to vote for idiots like Malema or corruption-tainted Zuma! The People are starting to think for themselves! Vote DA for a BETTER LIFE! Those "education refugees" voted with their feet! Viva DA for giving them a BETTER EDUCATION!

  • Nigel - 2012-03-21 14:54

Oh & what the ANC says is not racist, remember malema "the ANC is for Blacks (only) remember that, or what about "whites are criminals" I suppose this is NOT RACIST!!!!!!!!!!!!, you bloody Hypocrites !!!!!

  • Paul - 2012-03-21 14:54

Yawn! Here we go again......the race card is played every time the ANC are criticised, give it up Jackson and deliver what you promised!

  • - 2012-03-21 14:55

I am so over the race card being played. Apartheid is over, move on. Time to look ahead instead of holding back. Only racists pull the race card!

      Jacqui - 2012-03-22 10:40

Matthew, if you don't pull the race card, how would you explain your failures?. If you don't make progress and keep lying to your people how could you keep power if you don't have something to blame?. You see by the reactions here of so many just how well this devide and rule policy is working. Racism will be a fact, while failure governs.

      Bambanani - 2012-03-22 14:33

as LONG some people dont want to accept the past and want the poor black person to just move on and they know very well that the past have benefitted them so much that they can tell us to move on while they still eating the fruits of their evil forefathers,no we have to remind them, and we have to get ways and means to recover what belong to us,first to scrap what was called willing seller willing buyer,we need the land M AFRICA.

      Patiwe - 2012-03-22 18:19

@Bambanani, those are real issues that we should be focussing on, not hiding behind racism for the government failures.

      pjsawers - 2012-03-23 10:28

@Bambanani the banana! Read this great piece of journalism from what other countries think of this government and how pathetic it is! Interesting point of view Affirmative Action: "South Africa is the only country in the world where affirmative action is in the favour of the majority who has complete political control. The fact that the political majority requires affirmative action to protect them against a 9% minority group is testament to a complete failure on their part to build their own wealth making structures, such that their only solution is to take it from others."

  • attie - 2012-03-21 14:59

    Zille for President!!

      Sganja - 2012-03-21 15:46

"Zille for President!!"? over my dead body

      Mc - 2012-03-21 15:59

      Hillybilly for president

      Ngaka - 2012-03-21 16:32

      there's something wrong with you.

      Sinudeity - 2012-03-21 16:34

MC - A hillbilly is currently president.

      Garth - 2012-03-21 16:39

Um, sganja, you need any help arranging the `dead body' thing? Now, we all know that Ngaka translates to `constipation' in English, any guesses what `sganja' translates to?

      Riaan - 2012-03-21 16:40

Sganja That would be an added bonus.

      Hugo - 2012-03-21 16:42

      phillip.havenga - 2012-03-21 17:17

      Sganja, promise?

      Abisali - 2012-03-21 21:42

      @sganja: That can be arranged!

  • Jason - 2012-03-21 15:01

Well why should the DA hide these facts... ANC can moan but the facts are what they are.

  • Mark - 2012-03-21 15:01

Even the staid old BBC describes SA gvt education as "crumbling". The parents will the do the best they can for their kids. So, ask yourself; why is there migration from E Cape to W Cape schools? Better still, ask the parents.

  • Louisa - 2012-03-21 15:04

There you have it. Black people open your eyes and stop voting for this racist party out of anger. Will she call white foreigners as refugess No.

      Shirley - 2012-03-21 15:10

I suggest you ask for a refund on you education as you dont seem to know what a refugee is. P.s. they are not foreigners but South Africans trying to get a better education. Seems you should of done the same!

      Mesulie Vince' Ntombela - 2012-03-21 15:13

What makes me sick is the fact that all white people are defending her statement

      jannie.beirowski - 2012-03-21 15:43

@Mesulie. Just as nothing can 'make'you angry as it is a decision you take to be angry, so nothing can 'make'you sick. It is your thoughts and unwillingness to think, to keep on looking back at the darkness instead of to the front where the DA is holding a light for you that makes you sick. I know the ANC does not have any medicine for your sickness, but they will keep on trying to pursuade you not to take the DA's medicine untill you die with them.

      Garth - 2012-03-21 15:49

Here's some medicine for you Mesulie: 2 tablespoons of truth powder, stirred into a glass of piping-hot honesty. Add 2 drops of reason and 4 of sanity. Drop in a stick of resolve and stir vigorously until transparent. Drink this 4 times per day. Note: cannot be imbibed whilst wearing anc blinkers.

      Oscar - 2012-03-21 15:52

Mesulie, what makes me sick is the fact that you and your kind are to intellectually challenged to comprehend what she is saying. Sad indeed.

      Hugo - 2012-03-21 16:26

wonder how the tea girl feels right now,and they think that they will lure someone like Mamphele Ramphele...

      Garth - 2012-03-21 16:41

Hugo - sometimes your posts include traces of intellect, um, not this time hey!

      Hugo - 2012-03-21 16:50

      Garth not that I care!

      Tisetso2 - 2012-03-21 16:53

@ Lousa, clearly you don't know what a refugee is or you are so blinded by race.

      Jacqui - 2012-03-22 10:47

Mesulie, I am sorry that you feel sick. But it is you who don't understand the word refugee, Lots of Africans are arriving in Europe every day, looking for a better life, they are all refugees. I just hope for you that sooner or later you will understand that it is not the whites that are your enemy, but your own government and even more so your own mind. I also hope for you that you do not end up, belongings in a plastic bag amongst the thousands trying to get a better life in Europe, when this lot have failed you once and for all.

      Rajesh - 2012-03-22 13:33

Do you know what refugee is- because then you are one...Zille's comments belittle the true meaning of refugee....she knows how to get her closet constituents into the open.....her comments have added no value to is she different from Malema- and don't cite tenders please because she knows how to look after her cronies (overpaying for property with the City's funds)....

      Elton - 2012-03-22 15:40

@Louisa - She is complaining about the bad education, THE biggest problem in SA at the moment. Open your own eyes and stop to play the race card.

      Elton - 2012-03-22 15:41

@ Mesulie Vince' Ntombela - What makes me sick is that she is standing up for your RIGHTS and you call her a racist.

      Ian - 2012-03-22 16:17

@ Mesulie Vince' Ntombela - pleae explain to me how referring to people as refugees translate to being racist? The word refugee means: migrant, immigrant, person in exile. You need to apply the meaning in the context of how it was used. Oh! the advantages of a good education

  • mholthuysen - 2012-03-21 15:06

Yes people flee your ANC "successes" that is why they have become refugees in their own country - great doing Mthembu isn't it???

      Jacqui - 2012-03-22 10:50

Mpho, you obviously have no trouble calling your brothers 'garden boys'. A bit racist there aren't you?.

  • Rudi - 2012-03-21 15:07

We want Helen Zille to be President and we will not stop until this is what we get. These pupils went to the Western Cape for education because the ANC led Eastern Cape and most other provinces could not provide the education they needed. Helen please stay on as leader of the DA as this is going to be the next ruling party!!!

      Mesulie Vince' Ntombela - 2012-03-21 15:17

Keep dreaming...they sometimes do come true hey

      Sipho - 2012-03-21 19:12

      John - 2012-03-21 19:59

I think what Helen Zille said was meant to be likened to refugees not the literal discription.

      Mpho - 2012-03-22 00:06

only if she could survive a thousands years to come then she could be SA white president, ryt now u r just day dreaming

      Colin - 2012-03-22 08:40

Mpho, so you admit that you are a racist

      Bambanani - 2012-03-22 14:49

@rudi,zille for president,is good to dream but zille knows very well that not her dream that she can be the president

      pjsawers - 2012-03-23 10:35

@Mpho - Because like all great African governments, this one will also corrupt itself! Unfortunately, we might not be around to see it but our children may so it is still worth fighting for!

  • Sinudeity - 2012-03-21 15:08

12,000 pupils move to the already overcrowded schools in the WCape annually, because they keep voting for an incompetent/corrupt party in the ECape that f***ed up their own education system. Please, hand over the provincial budget from the ECape over to the WCape so we can handle the influx of 'refugees'.

      Rajesh - 2012-03-22 13:35

Sinudeity I love how you say their' you think the Western Cape is independent of the rest of SA....the ANC sets macro-policy- the only thing the DA does is administer it.

      Moyo - 2012-03-23 09:57

Thats out of line and the honourable to do was to apologise, that just shows you what kind of a person she is. Refugee only has one definition, you dont formulate your own definitions to suit you. She addresses the public and she has to care to use standard definitions that aere understood by everyone. The media in this country is obviously biased so they will let her get away with it jus like the term "professional black" that she used - HOW RACIST! Funny enough you get people supporting inexusable behaviour like this. She has to apologise to the people!

  • Mesulie Vince' Ntombela - 2012-03-21 15:09

\Mthembu said the DA viewed blacks as useful voters to win elections and nothing else.\ Well I agree with that one!!! And whites are gonna defend Zille ofcos even though she is wrong...its their country too hey and they shouldn't be called \refugees\...

      DraganTrenk - 2012-03-21 18:09

      Blah,Blah.....flashing toilette.

      Mark - 2012-03-21 18:53

Refugee is not a racist word lol. Refugee means somebody who left their own home because of problems where they live. In this case, E Cape people are leaving for the W Cape because the ANC has destroyed the E Cape. There's nothing racist at all about the word refugee :), because they are leaving their OWN HOME in hope of getting a better life in the DA run province :)

      Trevor - 2012-03-21 20:58

Question, did you ever learn to think for yourself or, are you also a card carrying ANC member who's only "brain" is the one between your legs while you let the ANC think for you.

      Herman - 2012-03-21 23:22

      Colin - 2012-03-22 08:43

Of all the stupid excuses for voting ANC this one must be close to the top of the list. You would rather suffer under a criminal government as long as you can cherish your hatred.

  • Hermann - 2012-03-21 15:10

The truth is one thing the ANC cannot accept.

  • Louisa - 2012-03-21 15:11

They refuse to be called settlers n Africa, even when they have European passport. But they have the audacity to call us refugess...these people maara. DA will never rule this country if they continue with their racist tendencies. Yes there are good whites out there...but most they smell of racism. No wonder I will stick with my liberator pary no matter what. Just can't see myself voting for a white party with their condescending attitudes sies!

      Sinudeity - 2012-03-21 15:19

Vote for your 'liberation' party, but go to white schools for an education your party would never be able to provide for you. Out of anger, will burn down a school in protest :P

      Shirley - 2012-03-21 15:23

Right now you have the condecending views and racial attitude! None so blind as those who refuse to see hey?

      flysouth - 2012-03-21 15:23

I guess then that it is not condescending to say, as the Dep. President did at the 100 years party for the ANC in Bloem, "We leaders will drink the champagne for you in celebration of the 100 years anniversary of the ANC", whilst the audience in the stadium had been waiting hours in hot sun! I think you jest Madam!

      Juan - 2012-03-21 15:42

But I still fail to see how Helen's statement is racist in nature.

      John - 2012-03-21 20:03

Oh Louisa please change your name to Youloser.

      Mpho - 2012-03-22 00:17

ua ryt, they will never unite with us like it or not. now we need our land back nomakanjani

      Colin - 2012-03-22 08:44

No my friend. It is VERY clear who has the racial tendencies here. ANC have nothing to offer aprt from race

      Jacqui - 2012-03-22 10:54

Louisa, you really don't have to display your ignorance so often. I am a white and I have a struggle history, I am as South African as you are and if you have trouble swalloing that bit if truth, so be it. Grow up.

      Rajesh - 2012-03-22 13:37

Sinudeity and shirley- if you are Da then forget it-if Zille was looking for publicity you lot just undid any brand cache for the DA....shame.

      therealunskinny - 2012-03-22 14:47

@Louisa: Might I recommend a Western Cape education?

      Bambanani - 2012-03-22 14:59

to say that black people like to use the race card is very foolish and myopic, you see some white people forget too quick,we need to keep on reminding them that they came with racism, they beneffited from racism and even today they are stiil enjoying the fruits of racism and now they tell black people that lets stop talking about racism, racist will always feel guilty when we talk about racism,if u know that you not a racist you shouldnot cry but engage with topic on how do get rid of this disease.

      Elton - 2012-03-22 15:45

@ Louise - Go vote for your racist party who will give your children then worst education in the world...

      Elton - 2012-03-22 15:47

@ Bambanani - You are such a racist dude...

      Ricus - 2012-03-22 20:15

Unfortunately your so called government that knows nothing about Management is more racist than we might even dream of, it was the acceptance that with Nelson Mandela we will turnover a page, but just the opposite have ocurred, your government had demolsihed what we had built up until 1994. Having read an article a few days ago, it was stated that Nelson Mandela is in actual fact a Terrorist and a Murderer, FACTS we had not taken seriously enough, no matter the publicity he personally gained, it didn't really preserve a future of prosperity for all South Africans, it had just demoralised the Nation. The ANC has no culture nor pride nor integrity to run this country with inborn morals because it just doesn't exist!

  • Kimberley Raal - 2012-03-21 15:12

I am a WHITE Eastern Cape refugee that left because of the terrible education standards, and I couldn't be happier living in WC, where service delivery is king and human rights are put foremost. I'm so sick and tired of hearing the ANC's pathetic excuses, hanging on every word Helen Zille says and then twisting it into some racial slur. They should actually take some sound advice from our future president! If they weren't so busy trying to distract everyone from their greed and corruption they could maybe actually make a difference to the millions of children who have yet to learn how to read and write. ANC is a bloody joke! Only racists play the racist card!

      mbossenger - 2012-03-21 17:34

Ngaka - "lol" all you want. What you're actually saying is that you accept a lower standard of education. Looks like the joke's on you...

      Trevor - 2012-03-21 21:07

LMAO at these ANC Supporter typically lacking in ANY form of intelligent rebuff...just race card once again...that is all you uneducated cowards are good for...that a white person STILL to this day intimidates you is sad...if you "Zulu" then you even more of a joke.

      Herman - 2012-03-21 23:28

@Hugo and Ngaka There are only two categories of ANC supporters: Those who can't think for themselves and those who have made it onto the gravy train. Which do you belong to?

      Colin - 2012-03-22 08:51

The more I read ANC supporters' comments the more I'm saddened by their absolute blindness. God help this country. Their corruption is killing it, but still they do their trash, and proudly so. What absolute tragedy !

      Jacqui - 2012-03-22 10:57

Ngaka and Hugo, both of you are reacting like children. I have expected better from both of you.

  • Elize - 2012-03-21 15:12

We are also refugees (from Gauteng) but we bloody certainly did not come here and started demanding and burnt down schools!!

  • flysouth - 2012-03-21 15:16

It is the ANC which is obsessed with race, they use the race card at every opportunity, as in this case when nothing was mentioned of race by Zille. Fact is there are many people in SA, myself among them who are considering becoming a refugee in the Western Cape - the place being well governed is a true refuge from the appalling and highly racist and discriminatory government of the ANC in Gauteng. It would not surprise me at all to see most of SA's inhabitants moving to the Western Cape as the rest of the country crumbles to dust and burns to ashes under the woeful policies and wilful neglect of the ANC.

      Shirley - 2012-03-21 15:27

The race card is the only answer they have to distract people from the right, royal @#$% up they have made of this country. Every person in that crowd heard 2 words-apartheid and race. They immediately raised their hackles, without actually "listening"to what was said and in what context. The anc placates their voters by those two words time and time again.

      Moyo - 2012-03-23 09:58

Thats out of line and the honourable to do was to apologise, that just shows you what kind of a person she is. • Brendan Cluley - 2012-03-21 15:17

ANC must burn!useless uneducated bunch of thieves!

  • paul.maarman - 2012-03-21 15:17

maybe the ANC should concentrate their energies on correcting the situation in the failed state of the Eastern Cape, for that is what it is. The virtual collapse of the Province happened under their watch, looking to mitigate by attacking criticism to the status quo they created, is just bloody reactive. All South Africans have the right to good governance, no matter what sphere it is!

  • Brett Harding - 2012-03-21 15:17

Since when is the word refugee, racist!?! FFS!!!!

  • Lekgwakgwa - 2012-03-21 15:18

I am councillor in the City Of Joburg and we used to use the name of refugee if you come from other provinces, so i thank Mthembu must restart something to campain for ANC he must learn how to campain to black people and deliver the services Viva Zille Viva DA

      Peter Great-One Sibuyi - 2012-03-21 15:41

      Mad boy, u never grow

      Mc - 2012-03-21 16:14

I don't know what makes lekgwaga so dumb but it really works.

      Nigel - 2012-03-21 16:23

Agree, at least you say it like it is, not these hypocrites that are just as bad or worse racists than those they criticize, the ANC constantly make racist remarks about coloreds, whites & indians, the reason why racisim has heated up lately is because of Malema, he started this, his racist intolerance has ignited a new wave of racism, He & his ANC have set SA back to pre 1994. The ANC is so lost that it will resort to any dirty trick in the book, the sheep supporting this bunch of useless fools can try to make the DA look bad, but none of this will help you deliver one toilet or one tap, so the ANC should stop looking to discredit the DA & START DOING THEIR JOBS!!!!

      Riaan - 2012-03-21 16:44

Mc You should know. You overdosed on the stuff. LOL

      Bongeka - 2012-03-22 04:27

Lekgwakgwa mfowethu, are you happy because you're a DA councillor or because you get paid a salary plus benefits at the end of the month? Listen,I don't hate DA in fact I don't hate any political organisation but I hate oportunists and racists. The racists comments that come up every time the topic is about ANC or DA are too much for me. Aunty Helen Zille is a great leader,no doubt about that. And I don't hate her,why would I?The only problem with her is that she still has to learn how to bluff a lot of black people without them seeing through her.She has done a wonderfull job by bluffing a few who were fed up with their political organisations or who just saw the greener pastures. ANC is not doing a good job at all.But DA is also not bed of roses. So as you want Mthembu to work hard to campaign,I think you also need to do the same.We do need change, but we're tired of being promised heaven on earth end up living in the shack on earth.

      Colin - 2012-03-22 08:58

Bongeka, nobody will deliver you from living in a shack, and nobody else should take responsibility for that but you yourself. Not the ANC and not the DA. If that is the reason why you vote for any party it is the wrong reason. Zille is a honest person, and I can hardly think of any ANC leader who fits that description

      Bambanani - 2012-03-22 15:05

@lekgwakgwa,is bad what is happen at the DA,refugee is the common words in the meetings, how many refugee camps do want built when in your dream win gauteng.

  • midkemia - 2012-03-21 15:19

the ANC is being racist by bringing race into it. Zille didnt say blacks were coming in, she said refugees. why must the ANC play the race card, when they know they are at fault for the education system in ruins. it now puts more of a strain on the western cape education system because the ANC cant do its efing job...

      Gerhard - 2012-03-21 15:40

How many provinces are dysfunctional now?

      Colin - 2012-03-22 09:00

The race card is the only card they have. It is delapidated, scratched and it stinks, but it is still all they have.

  • Garth - 2012-03-21 15:20

The useless, worthless anc is terrified of Mrs. Zille. Her `struggle credentials' hold more weight than all of those so-called `freedom fighters' credentials put together. Those anc cowards positively despise her for having had the courage to expose the true story behind Biko's death, while they languished in Swedish brothels. `Racis;, window dressing purposes; exclusionism(sic); not be used unduly', reads as though mthembu picked up a book of rhetoric and is quoting from it blindly. And I am really confused by his usage of the word `vindicated'. But this sentence takes the cake: `. . . is tantamount to instigating against them by labelling them with a tag associated with foreigners.' Oh my, that's choice! What a useless anc ignorant he is.

      Jacqui - 2012-03-22 11:07

Craig, I do have struggle credentials and let me tell you that those Black Sash women went through abuse you wouldn't have had the guts to stomach. To speak of any member of that organization who stood up for the rights of the likes of you, while your own peole didn't, is rude and disgsuting. I too faced a drawn gun, the only difference was I didn't run away but stood my ground and that probably saved my life. Leave the struggle to those who know. Your spite and lack of respect is awful, and shows just how poor you are in manners.

  • Timothy - 2012-03-21 15:21

Get over yourselves already, any excuse to bring up racism.

      Rajesh - 2012-03-22 13:43

Ja everytime malema utters a word you lot are out claiming how rascist he is....but let Zille give you half a picture and some spin- referring to blacks a refugees in their own contry- people migrate for better opportunities, across the country- how do you define a white person from KZN but studying at UCT....or an indian woman working in cape town because there are no opportunties in KZN in her field of that unnnatural...all this comments from supposed liberal south africans show just one thing- how deeply engrained the them and us culture is in SA...give me a break....she is no better than he is at fuelling rascism....

      Timothy - 2012-03-23 07:42

@Rajesh you might be right but there's one difference between Helen Zille and Zuma / Malema, she at least speak the truth, and doesn't try hide everything under the mat by implementing policies like the secrecy bill etc. Bottom line is no matter what the colour of your skin who would you rather have running this country Helen Zille or Zuma, I know I would probably choose Zille.

  • Rob - 2012-03-21 15:22

Those that see, but refuse to, continue to post their black racist drivel in response to the DA's educated, refined & dignified leaders comment. Good on you Helen.

      Hugo - 2012-03-21 16:28

      refined and dignified???

      Rob - 2012-03-21 17:05

Hugo. Yes, thats our Helen for you. Amazing.

      Trevor - 2012-03-21 21:09

@Hugo - You must stop please, I can't handle laughing so much at an idiot like you...come on....really, it's starting to hurt...

  • Jean Tredoux - 2012-03-21 15:22

People are allowed to move freely but this is coming from a party that had an issue about coloureds living in the WC... The runned down ANC provinces are like third world countries and the WC is looks like a glimmer of hope for them so this is why people are entering the WC in the hundreds. I Would say the anc is a racist black party but the anc is even racist against their own kind...

  • Vuyo - 2012-03-21 15:23

Why are so many people leaving the eastern cape for a better life in the western cape . The ANC is failing to deliver on it's promises . People prefer the DA controlled province than the ANC controlled province . Please Please Please wake-up ANC , stop blaming others . There must be something wrong you are doing to the people .

      Nigel - 2012-03-21 16:29

the truth hurts, so rather than taking responsibility for their (constant) failures, they keep lying & deceiving, hoping to cover up their uselessness. Why are the toilets in Viljoenskroon still not closed, they promised action, after rubbishing the DA for Makhaza toilets, Malema said, "heads will roll, the ANC is here now, this will be fixed immediately" & what .......NOTHING !!!!! even after a court ordered the ANC to close the toilets, nothing will change until the ANC gets its useless ass voted out.

      Patiwe - 2012-03-22 18:58

That's where their energy should be placed.

  • adam.hannath - 2012-03-21 15:23

I personally don't give a damn who runs the country so long as it isn't ANC. out of the 8 provincial legislatures they control 2 of them are completely collapsed due to gross mismanagement and corruption. Of the other 6, the education and health system in the Eastern Cape is disgraceful and almost completely non-functioning. The health system in the most financially stable province, Guateng, is mired in debt and is turning away Cancer patients. Kwazulu natal struggles with crime and HIV. And North-west, Northern Cape and Freestate aren't exactly doing amazingly well on any of those fronts either. The ANC is unfit to Govern, not because they are a black party, vote IFP or COPE or even AZAPO, but the ANC must have their power threatened solely because of the prevalent mentality, with it. That they believe they have the right to rule South Africa, only kings and tyrants rule. Governments lead and the ANC has proven they are incapable of doing that. Especially in a free South Africa.

      iainrhind - 2012-03-23 10:57

I also don't give a damn who runs the country - even if it is the ANC. All we need is competent people in charge, regardless of ehnicity, gender, sexual orientation or anything else. It is not the party per se, but the people running the party that make or break the country.

  • Gerhard - 2012-03-21 15:24

This is a clear cut case of ANC mismanaged Eastern Province. Now the ANC plays the race card. Zille definitely is not a racist.

  • Rudi - 2012-03-21 15:25

It is time for a new revolution - to get rid of the ANC government and replace then by a DA led government that will rule this country for ALL its people black and white. The white people in this country have embraced our black fellow citizens long ago - the ANC love to live in the past - lets start the new revolution now. All who agree with me make your statement now.

  • Paulo 'Cappy' Marques - 2012-03-21 15:27

Yes they are refugess leaving their city for a better one and they are welcome so where is the racism in that!! Lets face it im from jhb and when u goto CT u see a big diference in how a party runs their city!! Us whites should all leave SA and leave this place to rot like all other African countries.. This is not racist its reality !!

      Peter Great-One Sibuyi - 2012-03-21 15:35

Go to hell, we will encroaching u in ur cape town untill u relocate to jamaica

      Nathi Nto Ka Magcoba - 2012-03-21 15:42

As if u contribute something to the nation. Why dont you leave as a person n not include others?

  • J.D. - 2012-03-21 15:27

The cold facts are that communities build schools to educate the children of the community. If you have an influx of children from other communities of course that put pressure on the local school and cause problems. That should be easy to grasp given you have an IQ of higher than 70. If not then you will not understand. The irony here is that the scholls get vandalised. I cannot see people building a future by destroying what they have. To major over a word like refugees is simply to deny the real coause of the problem.

      Peter Great-One Sibuyi - 2012-03-21 15:31

South Africans can never be refugees in their own country, get that into ur thick skull chana

      Gerhard - 2012-03-21 15:45

They are refugees from EC ANC governance.

  • sewsexy - 2012-03-21 15:28

Why doesnt this ANC government just get over themselves - really - WTH - they are kinda refugees, as they are leaving an area that is not providing them with the education, security, sanitation, etc that they deserve - all because it is run by the ANC !!!!!!

      sewsexy - 2012-03-21 17:41

To those of you that put thumbs down - TRUTH HURTS doesnt it - hahahahahaha

  • Louisa - 2012-03-21 15:30

DA wll never rule this country. We will never allow out country be turned into The Komandors camp. The black DA voters, are just voting them out of anger and dissapointment from the ANC. But deep down n their hearts most of them love the ANC and if the ANC could better itself and start to deliver. They will come back home where they rightfully belong.

      Sinudeity - 2012-03-21 15:36

ANC lost 10% votes last election. I think peoples eyes are opening up to the incompetence and corruption in the ANC.

      Tamsyn - 2012-03-21 15:45

The ANC has had almost 20 years to better itself and start delivering on their promises. We're still waiting...

      johncarlos.biza - 2012-03-21 16:10

"ANC" is just an acronym. How can people 'deep down' love it?

      James Hurly - 2012-03-21 16:21

This comment must of come from an eastern cape refugee (not criticising your colour but your intelligence) once the anc drives this country into the ground and your children are the poor kids you see in the red cross ads, deep down you certainly going to love the fat cat anc leaders whose kids can afford to go to a upmarket school in the western cape which by that time won't exist its time this country takes drastic action to better the living conditions maybe voting the da into power won't be a bad Idea....we have not inherited the land from our ancestors but borrowed it from our children give them a chance at success and trust me making malema and the anc rich is cutting their chances in half

      sewsexy - 2012-03-21 17:40

@Louisa - shame must be terrible to live with such HATE everyday - feel very sorry for you - look forward darling not back, because if you dont look forward you may just fall short

      mbuchling - 2012-03-21 19:26

Since when can you say you know what is in the heart of another person? The ANC will never deliver on their promises because they only care about their party and themselces and not the country. Bloody idiot!

      Trevor - 2012-03-21 21:15

LOVE the ANC you say....listen Boetie...when you decide to come back from 1960's then you'll realise that this "ANC" you talking of if going to DIE with Nelson Mandela...this "NEW" ANC is nothing but a racist organisation that if it's NOT black it may NOT succeed and if it DOES, it's "RACIST"....YOUR ANC...well tell that to the people given the ANC necklass this last week and the Sharpville riots the last two days...but hey, me mentioning these facts will lable me as a racist because I am now dis-agreeing with your "ANC"...and god knows, the ANC is bigger than Jesus as Zuma stated in his own words...but not the Ancestors....LMFAO...

      Jeremy - 2012-03-21 21:57

But they won't my dear, the ANC better itself. That's why Jackson shouting. He does not like the truth to be heard by too many people. If to many hear it might become real and the ANC will have to stop robbing the people blind.

      Herman - 2012-03-21 23:40

Some very big IF's you mention there. If indeed they could better themselves and deliver I will also vote for them but they show absolutely no inclination to do this.Instead they continue to plunder the country for personal benefit at the expense of the poorest of the poor. Anarchy Nepotism Corruption = ANC

      Mjo Mjobile - 2012-03-22 07:26

who cares wht u'all doin in western cape, ull never rule SA ,neverrrrr m not even kiddin, manipulatve party, just want 2 c blcks fightin each other,

      therealunskinny - 2012-03-22 14:49

WTF are "Komandors"? Did you mean "Kommandos"?

      Elton - 2012-03-22 15:53

@ Louisa - Dude, is now almost 20 YEARS... Time for change. Stop to blame whites man, it is your GOVERNMENT.

  • Tamsyn - 2012-03-21 15:31

Since when does the term 'refugee' mean black? It's common sense to see that Zille was refering to the influx of non-Western Cape people who are moving to a more stable province with a stronger education system. How on earth is that racist? And for the ignorant people out there, the DA is compromised of both white and black citizens so stop making your selves sound completely stupid and uneducated by calling it the 'white supremacist party'. Every single one of you, black or white, who pull out the racism card over this kind of crap is like a rabid dog fighting over a piece of rotten meat. The Apartheid is over (thank God), get over it and start helping each other make a better future. No race is better than the other. Black, white or purple... we're all the same.

  • yucca.nel - 2012-03-21 15:34

Not that anyone cares, but I am an expat living in Norway primarily for love, but I do see myself as somewhat of a medical refugee here. in 2010 I was diagnosed with an Anaplastic Astrocytoma (a malignant brain tumor). Had I stayed in SA i would of received only my needed radiotherapy and not the chemo which is the primary reason I am doing well still. My beloved SA has ? first wives and a ? many first daughters of which each is entitled to a lavish Lamborghini wedding while cancer patients die, because a wedding is more valuable than saving lives. Did anyone tell these thugs that a healthy citizen is able to work and pay taxes? Perhaps that will get their interest.

  • freda.coetzee - 2012-03-21 15:34

Burn the racist card Pleaseeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Refugee is someone who seeks a place of safety and security.) South African need to study ALL history from the past. How white Afrikaner and black fought together against the British and apartheid. But I am a teacher and my learners get along ....they dont see colour anymore....The people who did apartheid are long gone= living in other countries. So learn from the EDUCATED youth of today.

      Louisa - 2012-03-21 15:47

Apartheid is so alive in SA. We must never delude ourselves. Have you read how young white Afrikaarners whites in Carolna komandoors camp are taught to hate black people. Mind you they hate democracy in the sense that our beautiful flag was used to wipe their dirty boats.

      Tamsyn - 2012-03-21 16:00

@ Louisa: That is the most useless comment I have ever come across. Just because a small group of people still uphold the beliefs that were so prevalent during the apartheid does not mean that Apartheid is still alive. There are still a number of neo nazi organisations in Europe but that does not mean that Hitler will rise from the dead and persue his ideology of an aryan race. Stop tarnishing all white south africans and non-ANC supporting black south africans with the same brush. The Apartheid was a despicable era of oppression for black people in South Africa and as a white person I am still proud to say that I am glad its over and done with. Let go of your racist ideals, you are part of the problem in this country, not the solution.

      Jacqui - 2012-03-22 11:19

Louisa, a few white idiots send their children to a camp and you think it is a million or more. The ANCYL preaches racism and sing racist songs to insult the whites and I bet you do along. As a matter of fact there is a similarity between you and those whites in their camp and you can't see it. How long do you want to stay racially ignorant?.

  • Fritz Hollander - 2012-03-21 15:39

anc clutching at straws using racecard cause they kno theyre on the way out and its about time, theyre USELESS !!!

  • Nherera Lovemore - 2012-03-21 15:39

she might try 2 defend herself by défining the word refugee, but id never heard of a refugee camp in wc meant for S.A immigrants nor any charitable food, clothing the so called refugees.more than 75pc of blacks wr displaced from their original regions, province during apartheid regime in search of good living standards,t therefore makes ev black a refugee in their mother land.
