ANC sued for R19m

2012-06-24 14:39

Johannesburg - The ANC has been threatened with a R19m lawsuit after allegedly failing to pay an advertising company, the Sunday World reported.

According to court documents filed by Blue Print Strategic Marketing at the High Court in Johannesburg, the company rendered services to the African National Congress during the local government election last year.

ANC secretary general Gwede Mantashe and treasurer Mathews Phosa are reportedly cited as respondents in the court papers.

Blue Print is demanding payment of its services with an additional 15.5% in interest.

An agreement between the ANC and the company was signed on 27 January last year in which the ANC agreed to pay 30 days after receiving an invoice.

Blue Print's lawyers sent letters of demand to the ANC in September and again in March.

"In an attempt to assist the respondents and in the spirit of goodwill and trust, the agency advised the respondents of its intention to proceed with a court application," it reportedly said in the court papers.

The ANC had been given until the end of May to pay, but had failed to do so.

The ANC was not immediately available for comment.

ANC spokesperson Ishmael Mnisi declined to comment to the newspaper.

"That matter [of the payment] remains within the confines of the two parties," he said.

That's a lot of fees for a campaign, even with interest... I wonder who owns the agency?

      goyougoodthing - 2012-06-24 14:49

And they don't even have a website... www blueprintsa co za... hmmm

      Grant Karl Hide - 2012-06-24 14:53

Well their advertising campaign obviously payed off, they still in charge of the billions they have recieved.

      fussed.anderson - 2012-06-24 14:55

Stupid Dont you ever learn. When dealing with the anc, ALL MONEY UPFRONT no deposit or terms. You will not get paid without a fight in court and this can take years. He said, she said, nor ready, and we know nothing about it, who gave you the order sue them

      mzukisi.mahamba - 2012-06-24 14:59

disgrace they r always looking for donations eish.

      Scouter - 2012-06-24 15:14

Easy money when it comes to dealing with the ANC .... bide your time with non-payment and increase the value of the contract immeasurably through payment default. Oldest trick in the book providing you have the means to carry the debt long enough. Worrying thing is that those who stand to gain are the very ones who are not paying the bills. Its known as a Public Funds scam .......

      Squeegee - 2012-06-24 16:27

Get behind on your tax and they simply raid your bank account.

      glyn.morgan.96 - 2012-06-24 16:53

A BEE company biting the hand that feeds it? Or does the anc think that BEE means a free ride? Anyway, the anc must pay up! Ha! Ha!

      andre.symes.5 - 2012-06-24 17:16

Give it 5 minutes before this is blamed on a racist attempt to discredit the ANC.

  • wesley.nel.5 - 2012-06-24 14:51

When will the people learn, if you do work, sell something, to the ANC, they must pay in full before you do anything for them . There word means as much as a black rubish bag lying next to the road.

      kasiboy55 - 2012-06-24 15:02

That black rubbish bag will be out of your sight within a week... Sadly the same can't be said about the ANC...

      lownabester - 2012-06-24 15:48

hahaha Wesley, Never do any work for the ANC before upfront payment, they owe the City of Cape Town millions. Bloody idiots.

      Irene - 2012-06-24 15:51

I wouldn't lower myself to do any work for the cANCer in the first place.

Meng jou met semels and die varke vreet jou op.

  • sdchilongwe - 2012-06-24 14:55

I guess the ANC is leading by example.

      Harold - 2012-06-24 15:00

You are right you only have to look at the private lives of these ANC people to know you must not do bussiness with them. Blue Print Stratigic have only themselves to blame but then maybe we should look at their private lives to know why they have a problem now.

      Juan - 2012-06-24 15:56

Yeah leading us straight down the toilet, thanks

  • Charl - 2012-06-24 15:11

    Nothing new

  • mart.botha - 2012-06-24 15:12

Is there 'ANYTHING' these incompetent 'liberators' can do right? I guess this is what happens when the priorities of less gifted mutants are focussed inward instead of outwards. The ANC is living proof that buying a driver's licence does not come with the ability to drive!!!

  • Jay - 2012-06-24 15:23

Do not be surprised if the very same ANC NEC are Directors of this Blue Print Company! Corruption starts at home! Thieves helping one another! Both parties must have "co-operated in the BBBEE appointment" Finally, both parties deserve each other! and the R19m Lawsuit. I Rest My Case! By the way: Do Not Buy an e-Tag ! EVER !

  • Irene - 2012-06-24 15:30

  • msaka.lekhosi - 2012-06-24 15:40

It was the ANC in Cape Town owing CTICC millions of Rand and they said was provincial. Now is national. Is the ruling party bankrupt? 'Cause we know they're using state money for their personal lives. Mr Ndluli will always be a good example.

  • lownabester - 2012-06-24 15:45

Dont do anything for the ANC BEFORE payment. The Cape Town Convention centre are also looking for their money. Not even Zuma's son could pay for his wedding. When will these people learn!!!!!

  • Hermann - 2012-06-24 15:47

Dumb agency. What else did you expect? Seriously.

  • Ayanda Mathunjwa - 2012-06-24 16:27

This is really strange, why would they spend that much money in adverts and PR, these guys are suppose to be the best thing since whatever and the whole of south Africa apparently knows that and they spend R19m on propaganda? people open your eyes, who needs a government anyway, it's not a real thing, it's just an idea that cost a lot of money and serves no purpose what so ever and that goes for the governments of the world, governments are non productive entities put there to make your life a bit hard, but get that's democracy for you, the whole thing doesn't work and dont ask me for a solution.

      glyn.morgan.96 - 2012-06-24 16:55

      Solution = Vote DA !

      jacque.raymer - 2012-06-24 17:40

solution has always been the same and has been the only really effective method ever used. its called the round table government. you put seats from each race into cabinet, all on equal footing, all colours and cultures working together. black, white, coloured, chinese, indian and so forth, each representing his people, then for the first time ever in its history will you have true equality in SA. all races represented equaly. people can vote who to represent them and those elected serve a term and must earn their stay for the next term.\r\n\r\nhaving a pure white or pure black rulling party will never get us closer to the goal of true equality...

  • Andre - 2012-06-24 16:41

Seems like it does not always pay to advertise!

  • glyn.morgan.96 - 2012-06-24 16:49

  • melanie.poissonjoscelyne - 2012-06-24 17:57

Wouldn't it be fanyastic if we could all get together and stopped paying services and tax accounts until our so called democratic government sorted out all this sh... Kicked out all the rotten eggs and gave us a great country to live in.

  • ewanvb - 2012-06-24 19:27

surprised, this company is not even a registered company on CIPRO, no wonder there is no payment. But any way, wonder if all the bills for the weekend conference in Parys would be paid within 30 days?

  • jonathan.seagul.5 - 2012-06-24 20:15

Typical ANC. Goes into a contract with no intention of honoring it. They should have known that they don't have the money to pay. Oh yes , don't worry, no problem, they have the government/taxpayers money that they can use!!!!

  • antin.herinck - 2012-06-24 20:31

"That matter [of the payment] remains within the confines of the two parties," Mnisi said." Ja you wish! As soon as you're sued in Court, your nasty ways becomes very much part of the public record. This is not good advertising for doing business with the ANC.

  • lynn.syme.1 - 2012-06-24 21:41

You do business with scum - you deserve your rewards. Nothing.

  • theunis.botha.96 - 2012-06-25 01:26

  • Lorraine McDonogh - 2012-06-25 07:16

I agree with Jacque.raymer. This is precisely what we need. This is something worth while praying for as ultimately South Africa belongs to God and all authority is His. This has again been abused but in with immensely greater measure. Therefore the demise of the ANC is closer than we think. This is because just as God removed the former government, He will soon remove this one. I believe that the answer to our country lies in the hands of the church which needs to cleanse itself and intercede in a unified way. Go has promised that he punishes the unrighteous. Our government does not not the faintest notion that they are actually fighting against God and He deals with His enemies by scattering them. Pray for this scattering and outnofnit will come a truly representative government.

  • sango.jika - 2012-06-25 07:28

Sue those bloody agents i'm sure they can afford it after having a 100m party.

  • devenjoey.theron - 2012-06-25 07:57

first advertising and now this. "free headlines". imagine you need advertising to convince pplz like me to join up with the anc. They waste money. Rather give each other a raise and a pat on the back. Don't convince me the ANC is great. How can the majority be great? greatness is a trade of the minority. All I know is that if you don't pay, you will look bad. Yet again, they will look bad in court. always loosing court cases, synonym to what criminals do - loose, loose and loose again, and then advertise, and run the risk to forget to pay, and then end up coughing up some more millions. luckily the majority finance this mismanagement of funds, This is why the minority get the old "stockvel" each and every tym...its payday soon!:D

  • gailcarolynhayes - 2012-06-25 09:13

Perhaps we should look at the up side here... Didn't Zuma just promise someone R16billion overseas, something like the G20. If they deal with blueprints this way here their promises are probably just as empty when they are at the G20.

      B.b. - 2012-06-25 13:52
